Description:

Community Liaison - Samaritan Hospital - FT Days

Position Summary:

The Community Liaison (Prevention Education) is responsible for providing prevention education program  in schools (elementary, middle, high schools), colleges, and the community throughout the Capital Region.  Work includes the coordination of education programs with allied professionals, development of new curricula for use, and completing training in order to provide prevention education programming.

Education Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, Education, Communications, or related field is required.

Experience Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with victims of crime for a minimum of one year is required.
  •  Public speaking and prevention education for a minimum of one year is required. 
  • Understanding and knowledge of the dynamics of crime victimization is required. 
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to locations where trainings are held, to attend any required meetings, and to provide education/outreach programs.
  • Sexual Assault Counselor certification by the New York State Department of Health is required for this position to effectively respond to disclosures that may occur during or after prevention education programming (note - if the colleague does not already possess this certification, it will be provided by the program at no cost).
  • 8 hour shift, per-diem (some evenings and weekends)

Principal Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate and provide prevention education:

•Work collaboratively to ensure that prevention education efforts are being offered at local schools, colleges, and community agencies to reach over 10,000 community members annually.

•Provide direct training to students and community members.

•Coordinate with schools and/or programs from the regions to ensure that all necessary areas are covered with prevention services.

•Assist with the development of grant reports and track services to ensure that project deliverables are on track.

2. Collaborate with external partners

•Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, colleges, and community partners to facilitate the delivery of services to students and community members

3. Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance skills and stay current in the field.

  • Including learning new curricula, attending community partnership meetings, and engaging in relevant coalitions or conferences to enhance skills and stay current in the field.

*** This position is grant funded and employment is contingent on continuation of grant funding.

Pay Range: $21.20 - $28.26

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
