Position Summary:
Kemper is looking for a highly talented and motivated person to join the Economic Capital Modeling team as a Senior Analyst. The Economic Capital Modeling Team is part of the Finance Strategic Planning & Execution (SP&E) team which executes high impact corporate finance and strategy projects in support of Treasury, Corporate Development, Investments, and other functional and business areas. This includes the creation and presentation of qualitative and quantitative analyses that provide critical insights into business and investments performance, capital and liquidity management, capital utilization and strategic opportunities.
Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking skills, a strategically oriented thought process, exceptional communication skills (both written and oral), and must conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism. This candidate will be highly organized, and able to analyze existing processes and seek out ways to improve our current approach. The candidate will operate in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, and will be a self-starter who learns Kemper systems and processes, and quickly become an integral part of the team.
Position Responsibilities:
- Support financial evaluations of strategic opportunities, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, capital investments, etc.
- Lead the development and analysis of financial models that drive strategic insights and help address diverse business problems
- Be a thought leader while juggling multiple high-impact projects with competing priorities
- Assess and present to senior management drivers of operating performance relative to our competitors and our corporate objectives
- Identify liquidity and capital inefficiencies and examine solution alternatives
- Streamline, standardize, and document core processes on an ongoing basis
- Interpret data and identify trends to help leadership understand drivers of results, make decisions, and develop strategy
- Construct and maintain structured financial and operational analysis models as tools to aid in data analysis
- Aggregate and organize financial data from multiple platforms and systems and suggest procedural changes to increase the accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency of models and reports used or produced by the team
- Frequently interact and coordinate with other departments to address business issues and to meet organizational objectives
- Support the development of analysis of company financial performance
- Develop new reports and models to drive key leadership insights into business performance
Position Requirements:
- 5-8 years’ experience in corporate finance, financial planning and analysis, investment banking or a similar role
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or another quantitative discipline, Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification preferred
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Demonstrated ability developing and operationalizing complex financial models
- Financial reporting and financial statement analysis under GAAP; exposure to statutory accounting principles a plus
- Experience partnering with colleagues across an organization as well as an ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented culture
- Ability to think, solve problems and self-manage progress towards deliverables with a high degree of accountability and urgency
- Effective communication skills, both in writing and verbally
- Detail-oriented individual who is organized and delivers on tight deadlines
- Insurance experience preferred (Property and Casualty and Life & Health a plus)
- Experience working with financial information and or reporting system / tools such as Workday, Adaptive, Tableau, Micro Strategy preferred but not required
- Prefer 2-5 years of economic capital modelling or actuarial experience within an insurance company
- Prefer Bachelor or Master in Statistics or Actuarial Mathematics
- This position is a remote role and can work from a US based home
The range for this position is $70,700 to $120,900. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is also eligible for our Kemper benefits package (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)
