The Clinical Assist Position is responsible for providing support to Inviva Infusion Nurses and patients in the clinic environment. 
In collaboration with the nurses, Patient Care Coordinators (PCC), pharmacy staff and management, the clinical assist will ensure the smooth operation of the clinic by completing tasks within their scope. 
The clinical assist will liaise with patients to provide patient centered care, while upholding the ICARE values and standards of Inviva. 

 

Clinic locations:  

9639 137th A Street, Unit #702, Surrey Center 

943 West Broadway, Suite 320, Kitsilano Clinic 

Clinic operating hours Monday-Saturday 8-8pm. 

 

Schedule: 

15 hours weekly, hours 8-4pm or 12-8pm 

 

Duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Checking scheduling software to review daily clinic load for changes or updates. 

  • Administrative tasks, including but not limited to, pulling charts for upcoming clinic days, liaising with the PCC for any changes, ensuring medical orders are valid, printing lab reqs and preparing labels, arranging pick up of lab work via courier, preparing assignments for the next day. 

  • Ensuring the patients charts are complete and accurate, thinning charts where needed and cataloging for return to head office. 

  • Centrifuging blood work and packaging prior to pick up by courier. 

  • Organizing and checking incoming medication deliveries and placing in the fridge. 

  • Pulling medications and separating for upcoming clinic days. 

  • Completing fridge checks for inventory each month. 

  • Liaising with pharmacy to ensure all upcoming appointments have medication on site. 

  • Conduct hand hygiene audits as directed by the nurse manager. 

  • Be the contact person for maintenance departments should the need arise to have outside workers on site. 

  • Assist the nursing staff with patient care including administering injections, providing self-injection teaching, and taking vital signs when needed. 

  • Assist patients during their appointment, with any personal needs to ensure their comfort. 

  • Receiving supply deliveries and putting away in the appropriate place, ensuring these stock areas remain clean and organized. 

  • Ordering stock where needed and faxing to the appropriate departments. 

  • Any other tasks requested by your nurse manager, within scope of practice. 

 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Typically requires 3+ years of related experience. 

 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing with BCCNM. 

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills. 

  • Strong communication skills, able to manage relationships with a proven track record of exceptional customer service. 

  • Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically, overcome internal challenges or obstacles and report these to management when required. 

  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability. 

  • Ability to support change. 

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office.
