Overview of Information Technology
Information Technology (IT) at Pew takes a proactive approach toward the use of technology to increase the organization's capacity for exceptionally high-quality strategic philanthropy. Executive staff at Pew recognizes the importance of technology and supports related initiatives to advance the institution's goals and achieve and maintain a leadership position in the philanthropic community. The department comprises highly competent, forward-thinking professionals who are responsible for the technology needs of all Pew staff, as well as for Pew's subsidiaries in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. IT is organized into distinct areas of responsibility, including strategic alignment of technology with the business, the evaluation and acquisition of software and hardware, implementation of new systems and data repositories, and supporting the extended network, desktop computer hardware, and software applications.
Position Overview:
This position involves collaborating with stakeholders to identify business needs, develop requirements, evaluate potential solutions, and support efforts to apply technology to Pew’s business needs.
The candidate will possess strong and balanced skills in the areas of requirements analysis, business analysis, process improvement, creating high-quality documentation, and knowledge management. The ideal candidate should possess previous experience as a user of multiple enterprise systems, a solid technical background, strong communication skills including experience communicating with senior leaders in writing and verbally, and the ability to handle multiple small projects and research activities concurrently.
This position is based in Pew’s Washington, DC’s office and will report to the Senior Manager, Governance & Analysis
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements Analysis:- Collaborate with stakeholders to create business and technical requirements for IT initiatives based on business objectives.
- Develop clear, structured requirements and specifications to guide project development and ensure solutions align with business objectives.
- Facilitate requirements workshops and interviews, ensuring stakeholders needs are accurately translated into deliverables including documenting meeting minutes, status reports, and providing updates to stakeholders.
- Contribute to comprehensive documentation for systems, processes and procedures.
- Conduct impact assessments, feasibility studies, and risk analysis to ensure proposed solutions add value.
- Provide data-driven insights to inform decision-making processes and contribute to strategic initiatives.
Business Process Analysis:- Conduct analyses of business processes and workflows.
- Assess and refine existing business processes to recommend increases to efficiency and effectiveness.
- Analyze current business processes to identify actionable recommendations for improvement, supporting the alignment of business objectives with IT solutions.
- Provide recommendations based on cost, functionality, and alignment with organizational needs.
Research & Evaluation:- Research and evaluate potential IT products, tools, and technologies to improve business efficiency.
- Conduct analyses to inform recommendations and decision-making processes.
- Assist in preparing business cases for new technology investments or upgrades.
- Research emerging technologies, products, and solutions in the IT space.
- Coordinate with vendors and third-party providers as needed.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of business processes, requirements, and project outcomes.
Requirements:
- Generally, requires 4 years of experience, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Progressive experience in IT or IT-liaison-like roles, preferably with exposure to both business analysis and project coordination.
- Adaptable and quick to learn new technologies and systems.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proven experience with requirements analysis, documentation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills to interact with stakeholders across various departments.
- Familiarity with technology evaluation, vendor coordination, and product research.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.
Travel
Occasional travel between Pew's offices as required. Additional travel required to attend trainings, seminars or conferences.
Work Authorization:
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the country for which they are seeking employment without the need of a visa sponsorship.
Salary Range
$105,400 USD - $117,800 USD
The salary range represents a reasonable estimate of the annual salary based on Pew’s commitment to provide equitable and market-competitive pay. The actual salary offered will take into consideration many factors including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills and experience, internal pay equity, and business need.
