Job description

Overview:

BerryDunn is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join our Tax Practice Group. You will join a core team tasked with developing the vision, strategies and action plans to service our clients and grow our service base. This position is planned to sit in our Waltham, MA, Manchester, NH, Portland, ME or Bangor, ME office locations or remotely to support client work. You will report to the Practice Group Leader for Commercial. 

You Will:

The Senior Tax Manager will advise clients on the tax implications of their business objectives, evaluate and select alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance, identify different methods of complying with tax regulations while acting as the primary client contact for complex tax issues. You are charged with applying knowledge to understand potential tax issues, and recognizing, communicating potential risks and potential changes in the tax policy and making top-level decisions regarding filing, preparation and resolution of questions from federal/ state agencies. In addition, the Senior Tax Manager is a critical member of the office/ region leadership team and will actively participate in the marketing, networking and business development within an area of expertise and specialization while maintaining client relationships and acting as the primary contact for complex questions.

You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree and CPA license 
  • 8+ years’ experience in a similar role managing engagements, clients and staff
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, consolidated federal tax returns, partnership returns, and combined state tax returns.
  • Highly capable of managing, developing and mentoring a team of tax professionals
  • Active participation in the firm’s marketing and recruitment efforts
  • Ability to effectively delegate work as needed
  • Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills as well as decision-making skills
  • Success working collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to compose written tax advice
  • Executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions to clients
  • Exceptional client service, presentation and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and nurturing outstanding client relationships.
  • Strong leadership, business development, recruiting, training, coaching, and mentoring skills,
  • Computer expertise including knowledge of tax software and technology. Experience with CCH Axcess and Engagement a plus
Compensation Details:

The base salary range targeted for this role is $170,000/yr - $190,000/yr. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
