Responsibilities:
We are seeking a Phlebotomy Technician II (Nights), also referred to as a Phlebotomy Tech at Providence Medical Center a member of Prime Healthcare. The Phlebotomy Technician II will be responsible for drawing blood and handling specimens, ensuring proper identification, labeling, and transport to the lab. They also maintain equipment, adhere to quality and safety protocols, record patient data, and collaborate with other departments to ensure effective patient care.

Shift Hours: 10 hour shifts
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):
- prepare patients for blood draws, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the process
- responsible for correct blood collection, draw blood from patients using venipuncture, capillary puncture, or other techniques; ensure proper identification and labeling of specimens
- organize, handle, and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing, ensure all specimens are properly processed and stored
- adhere to quality control and safety protocols to maintain the integrity of specimens and ensure accurate test results
- maintain and calibrate phlebotomy equipment and supplies, ensure everything is in working order and properly sanitized
- perform more complex or specialized phlebotomy procedures as required, often with minimal supervision
Qualifications:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
- high school diploma, or equivalent, required
- BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained current, required
- minimum of two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience, preferred
