POSITION DESCRIPTION
HGL currently has a position open for an experienced Construction Superintendent IV. As Construction Superintendent IV, you will be responsible for acting as the site superintendent on various construction and environmental remediation projects. Our clients include the USEPA, USACE, NASA, and other organizations, and our project sites are located across the United States and its territories. Projects include but are not limited to landfill remediation and cap construction, demolition, mine-waste cleanup, groundwater remediation, treatment plant construction, contaminated soil and sediment excavation & treatment, utility installation, and PFAS mitigation. This is an on-site position located at varying project sites and requires approximately 70% travel.
Responsibilities/Duties
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
The successful candidate will:
Serve as the construction site superintendent for all work phases of remediation and construction projects. Travel will be required approximately 70% of the time.
- Manage activities performed by field crews including multiple subcontractor personnel to ensure efficient operations and adherence to the project schedule and production rates.
- Lead meetings and interface with project managers, technical staff, and clients to support all components of project work.
- Review and document completed work to ensure compliance with project schedules, specifications, and construction drawings.
- Procure materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Identify and mitigate project risks relating to schedule, quality control, and health and safety.
Required Skills
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience serving as Site Superintendent for environmental remediation projects.
- Experience working on large project sites with contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater subject to CERCLA and RCRA regulations.
- Experience working on USACE, EPA, and other federally regulated remediation construction projects.
- Excellent communication, documentation, organization, and team-building skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a team-oriented setting to manage multiple activities with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience inspecting and documenting large scall excavation, backfill, and site restoration activities.
- Experience preparing and maintaining production reports, inspection reports, material logs, quality control reports, personnel safety records, and deficiency logs.
- Ability to lead and document on-site meetings pertaining to schedule, health & safety, and quality control for large groups of subcontractor personnel.
- Experience serving as the Site Superintendent on environmental construction projects utilizing the USACE 3-Phase Quality Control System.
- The ability to serve as Site Safety and Health Officer or Quality Control Manager for brief durations during project execution.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of software, specifically in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
Preferred Skills
WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT – Preferred, not required
- Current certifications including: OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, OSHA 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher, OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety, OSHA 8-hour Supervisor Training, USACE Construction Quality Management for Contractors (CQMC), and First aid/CPR/AED.
- Experience working with Microsoft Project.
- Experience with the USACE Resident Management System (RMS).

The salary range for this position ranges from $109,616-$169,904. This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills. If your desired salary falls outside of this range, we hope you'll still apply as there may be other positions that better align.
