Data modeling

This is a remote position.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Data Modeling:
   

   • Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that align with business needs.
     
   • Translate business requirements into data structures that ensure data consistency, accuracy, and integrity.
     

2. Collaboration and Requirements Gathering:
   

   • Work with business analysts, data architects, and stakeholders to gather data modeling requirements.
     
   • Collaborate with development teams to integrate data models into applications and systems.
     

3. Documentation and Standards:
   

   • Document data models, relationships, and data dictionaries.
     
   • Ensure adherence to data modeling standards, naming conventions, and best practices.
     

4. Optimization and Maintenance:
   

   • Optimize data models for performance and scalability.
     
   • Maintain and update data models to reflect changing business requirements.
     

5. Tool Utilization:
   

   • Utilize data modeling tools like Erwin, Power Designer, or Lucid to create and manage models.
     
   • Perform reverse engineering of existing databases to improve current data structures.
     

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Mandatory Skills:
  

  • Strong expertise in data modeling concepts, including normalization, dimensional modeling, and schema design.
    
  • Experience in relational and non-relational database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
    
  • Solid understanding of database design principles and data management best practices.
    

• Nice-to-Have Skills:
  

  • Experience with data modeling tools such as Erwin, Power Designer, or Lucid.
    
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and metadata management.
    

• Soft Skills:
  

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
    
  • Excellent communication skills for effectively conveying complex data concepts.
    
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  
• Familiarity with big data technologies like Hadoop or Spark.
  
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
  
• Certification in data modeling or database management (e.g., CDMP, DAMA).
