Job Summary

We are looking for a Disability Benefits Examiner to secure and analyze claim information, make decisions, and approve payments related to disability and state disability insurance claims. You will be responsible for developing and executing claim management strategies, providing empathetic customer service, and ensuring prompt, accurate processing of lower complexity claims. This is a fully remote position, and you will be expected to maintain a private, professional home office environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • 45% - Investigate and analyze claimants' medical conditions, occupational demands, and policy provisions to determine eligibility and entitlement to disability benefits. Identify discrepancies and secure additional documentation as needed to make decisions on new, continuing, and maintenance claims.
  • 30% - Develop and execute strategies to manage claims efficiently, contain liability, and ensure claims are resolved in a timely manner. Provide responsive customer service, ensuring that each claimant’s medical condition and policy provisions are carefully considered.
  • 20% - Provide clear and accurate claim information to claimants, policyholders, and other stakeholders. Resolve issues and respond to inquiries effectively through written and verbal communication.
  • 5% - Ensure accurate claim payment by identifying deductible income and maintaining correct system data.
  • Ability to work in a remote setting is a requirement of the role. *
Skills and Background You’ll Need
  • Must-Have:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Minimum two years of experience in disability benefits administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferred:

    • Associate degree.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.

 

  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.

Salary Range:

20.07 - 27.88
