The opportunity
Southern New Hampshire University is looking for Online Adjunct Instructors to teach Ethics courses in our General Education program. Our innovative General Education program, the Commons, adopts an interdisciplinary approach to Ethics, Social Justice, Sustainability, and Citizenship. The Ethics courses within this program empower students to navigate global challenges with confidence and integrity.
As an online instructor, you will inspire students to explore ethical frameworks, challenge perspectives, and create meaningful connections to the world around them. You will offer interdisciplinary insights that help students apply ethical principles in real-world contexts and deepen their understanding of cultural and social impacts. Through dynamic teaching and real-world applications, you will equip learners to think critically, embrace cultural diversity, and apply ethical principles to create a more just and sustainable future. PHL-218: Ethics in Global Society
PHL-260: Ethical Decision Making and Problem Solving
What You'll Do:
- Provide proactive, inclusive student outreach in a pre-built, asynchronous learning environment, connecting with students, academic advisors, and team leads to foster student success. Prioritize accessibility and individualized support to address diverse learning needs and backgrounds.
- Cultivate an engaging, welcoming classroom presence using creative, interactive teaching methods, such as facilitating meaningful discussions and utilizing announcements to provide updates and additional resources to enhance student understanding.
- Deliver clear, constructive, and timely feedback with a quick turnaround on grades, encouraging continuous growth and academic confidence for all students.
What we're Looking For:
- A Master's degree in Cultural Studies, Humanities, Social Sciences, Global Studies, Philosophy, Interdisciplinary Studies, Ethics, or a related field from an accredited higher education institution.
- At least 1 year of teaching experience in similar content at the high school level or above, or experience facilitating related group training.
- Demonstrated academic or professional expertise in ethics, particularly with multicultural or global perspectives.

Compensation
The standard compensation for courses is $2,200 per 8-week undergraduate course and $2,500 per 10-week graduate course. Actual pay is determined at the time of course assignment based on discipline.
