The Proposal Management Team
The Proposal Management Teams handle end-to-end RFx at Okta. We are a small, collaborative team supporting Okta’s most important strategic RFx for our go-to-market teams.
Proposal Management sits within Okta’s Presales Organization.

The Public Sector Proposal Manager Opportunity
The Public Sector Proposal Manager serves as a primary person who writes, edits and manages resources in the development, completion, and on-time submission of proposals for Okta’s PubSec teams. The position involves researching, writing, and producing a high volume of client-facing documentation for a dynamic product, as well as gathering information from teams of subject matter experts.

What you’ll be doing
● As a member of the Pre-Sales Team, you will be responsible for planning, researching, developing, and editing complex content for proposals in response to customer solicitations.
● Develops comprehensive proposal responses, taking responsibility for the quality, accuracy, and integrity of the final output.
● Serves as a central point of contact, timeline manager, and overall administrative lead on assigned proposals and leads multi-disciplinary or cross-functional teams.
● Helps team members adhere to processes, templates, standards, and standard methodologies to bid on projects in a timely manner successfully.
● Develops and maintains collateral/data repository to provide professional, consistent, fast turnaround of RFx and detailed technical questionnaires.
● Researches and gathers corporate information, technical product information, and other standard materials. Brings together any new language written for addition to the repository.
● Identify content gaps and work with sales, technical, and engineering experts, legal representatives, and other teams across Okta to craft technical responses for Subject Matter Experts (SME). Manages these SME technical writing assignments to ensure accurate submissions, follows the outline and RFP instructions, and addresses win themes.
● Tracks RFx responses in Salesforce.
● Compile, edit, and format the entire team’s responses into a seamless response, resulting in a clear, concise, consistent and error-free proposal.
● If needed, work with customers via the Account Executive to facilitate understanding of requirements (i.e., participation with bidder’s calls, email correspondence, etc.).

What you’ll bring to the role
● 3+ years related experience, preferably in proposal field and/or technical writing.

● BS/BA Degree or equivalent in relevant experience.
● Experience with public sector (federal, state, local) procurements and sales cycles is strongly preferred.
● Self-starter, humble, multitasker, great teammate, works well under pressure, works ahead of schedule, and follows through on tasks. Keeps the team informed of changes.
● Shows a desire to take on responsibility.
● Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
● Excellent writing, grammar, and spelling abilities; technical writing skills preferred.
● Strong proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), cloud storage, and Google Workspace
● Ability to engage with senior technical and upper management to obtain necessary
information and coordinate team involvement

And extra credit if you have experience in any of the following!
● Responsive (formally RFPIO), Loopio, or any proposal management software.
● Previous experience at a SaaS company.

Additional requirements:

  • This position requires the ability to access federal environments and/or have access to protected federal data.  As a condition of employment for this position, the successful candidate must be able to submit documentation establishing U.S. Person status (e.g. a U.S. Citizen, National, Lawful Permanent Resident, Refugee, or Asylee. 22 CFR 120.15) upon hire.
  • This role requires in-person onboarding and travel to our San Francisco, CA HQ office during the first week of employment

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:
$78,000$130,000 USD
