The Glen Allen/Richmond office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Geotechnical and Materials Construction Project Manager to join our team of engineers and geologists. We are looking for a motivated candidate with an interest in working on our nation’s critical infrastructure, a desire to develop both field and analytical skills, and a desire to be part of a strong team of geologists and engineers.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ability to manage a construction management team on-site overseeing multiple construction contracts and contract delivery methods.
- Support the Tunnels Business Unit (TBU) Program Management/Construction Management branch leadership in managing the construction management team, including preparation, and updating of various construction management guidelines and plans.
- Oversight of strategic initiative tasks and staffing coordination.
- Role includes business development related to securing new work, constructability, estimating and scheduling to projects.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Experience with all facets of construction management for heavy civil and underground works.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction management, with a focus on tunnel projects.
- Direct experience managing multiple construction management efforts.
- Project Management: Lead and manage tunnel construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the work of construction teams, including subcontractors and consultants, to ensure efficient project execution.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, monitor expenditures, and support cost-control measures.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all construction activities comply with safety regulations and standards, promoting a culture of safety on-site.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee quality control processes to ensure that construction work meets specified standards and requirements.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities, providing regular project updates and addressing any issues or concerns.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
- Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and support to the construction team, resolving any technical issues that arise during the project.

The compensation range for this position is between $185,000 to $250,000. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
