Job description

Are you a Property Lawyer within a top or mid-tier law firm or experience working as a specialist commercial property lawyer with an in-house team?  

 

Has your experience predominantly related to commercial property law in Victoria and practice across several areas, including the sale of commercial and industrial property, off-the-plan developments, retail and commercial leasing, options and corporate related property transactions?  

 

Due to growth, we have an exclusive opening to join the team of high-calibre lawyer writers at Practical Law Australia! We are seeking an expert senior lawyer with Commercial Property law experience (Victoria focus, but can be based elsewhere), who values a flexible role, a supportive team and a competitive salary and benefits. 

This role can be based anywhere in Australia.

 

About the Role 

In this opportunity as Senior Lawyer Writer, Commercial Real Estate, you will:  

  • Plan, research, write, draft, edit and maintain premium quality know-how resources including practice notes, standard documents, checklists and drafting notes. 

  • Support internal peer review processes to ensure content is legally correct, kept continuously updated and maintained to reflect all relevant legal developments and reflect current market practice. 

  • Keep up-to-date with property law, monitor legal, practice and market developments and keep our customers up-to-date with these changes. 

  • Meet with external customers, industry and sector experts to maintain and build a superior understanding of property law related developments to ensure relevant and premium quality content is delivered that anticipates, meets and exceeds customer needs. 

  • Assist in the development and publication of commissioned content authored by commercial lawyers in private practice. 

  • Provide legal expertise in responding to queries from external customers about property law and practice. 

 

About You 

You’re a fit for the role of Senior Lawyer Writer, Commercial Real Estate if you: 

  •  Admitted to practice as a lawyer in Australia, with 5 years+ PQE experience, working as a commercial property lawyer in Victoria, most recently in an inhouse role or a top/mid-tier private practice.  

  • An established reputation as an expert in your field. Bonus points for having built a professional presence on LinkedIn and if you enjoy networking with your peers. 

  • A genuine and demonstrable interest in commercial property law, and in helping to re-invent the way legal know-how works. Prior published articles roles and a keen interest in engaging with new methods of providing content e.g., podcasts, social media, video content etc. would be highly regarded. 

  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with your manager and the rest of the Practical Law team.  

  • Genuine interest in legal research and writing and a keen ability to articulate and present your ideas, strategies and decisions.  

  • A proactive, “get it done” mindset, always looking for solutions and not shy about pursuing them and Positive attitude, team-orientated, flexible, and analytical. Attention to detail is a must.
