Your Job:
The Referral Specialist will support all Methodist Transplant Specialists clinics and referral services, which may include processing all incoming referrals from providers and clinical support staff. Furthermore, the specialists serve as a reserve point of contact for the MTS clinics regarding incoming calls, appointment scheduling, and follow-up calls related to care coordination. You will serve as a liaison between patients and clinical support staff.

Your Job Requirements:

• High School Graduation or GED required.
• 2+ years of professional medical knowledge in a practice setting is preferred. Bilingual is a plus.
• A diploma from an accredited medical assistance program is a plus. 
• Candidate must be able to work on discrete tasks in a high-volume, high-pressure environment.
• Good judgment and professional demeanor are a must.
• Current National Medical Assistant Registration/Certification is a plus.

Your Job Responsibilities:

• Offers exceptional customer service while performing tasks professionally and with a positive attitude. Has the ability to handle multiple tasks. Must be able to research required information using available resources. Capable of handling and resolving customer issues. Must be able to identify and escalate priority tasks per department workflows.
• Demonstrates the ability to complete both urgent and non-urgent referral processes. This includes but is not limited to an excellent working knowledge of the workflow processes required to complete established patient referrals.
• Ensures all requested patient referrals are completed within the established department time-frame criteria. Interacts with office management, specialist staff, and insurance companies to accurately and efficiently process physician referral requests and provide high-quality patient care.
• Coordinates the efforts of the referral management department, verifies patients have scheduled appointments with the specialty providers, and provides patient addresses, phone numbers, and authorization referral forms to specialists as necessary.
• Faxes (eFax) completed specialist referral forms, patient demographics, and any additional information needed to primary care physicians or patient service consultants as necessary and directed.
• Documents all encounters with patients and physicians within the EMR system. Logs all referrals into the EMR system and monitors status to ensure timely completion.
• Makes outbound calls as needed to complete assigned tasks related to referrals.
• Serves as reserve point of contact at the Methodist Transplant/Liver Institute regarding incoming calls, appointment scheduling, and follow-up calls related to care coordination.
• Maintains the strictest confidentiality while attempting to provide first-call resolution.
• Screens calls, takes messages when applicable, and conveys information to appropriate parties per department workflows.
• Complies with all administrative workflows of the MTS department.  Maintains and follows all policies and procedures of the organization and those specific to Med-Health.
• Communicate with management about any issues or delays impacting patients' quality of care and customer service.
• Willingly participates in continuing education and other applicable activities to maintain professional competence, including team huddles and meetings.
• Works collaboratively with other department members to cultivate a team approach focused on achieving the highest quality patient care and staff cooperation.
• Performs other tasks as assigned by management.
• Remote Position: The employee may be deployed to work from home after a minimum of 6 months in the clinic and successfully completing the training period. The employee must be able to demonstrate high competency and operate independently.
