ABBYY is seeking a Vice President of User Experience (UX) to lead and inspire a team in designing innovative, user-centered digital experiences. As a key member of the executive team, the VP of UX will set the vision for user experience strategy, champion design thinking, and ensure our products meet the highest standards of usability, accessibility, and visual appeal. You will also lead initiatives to enhance education services, ensure cohesive technical writing, and integrate user experience principles across all aspects of customer engagement. Working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, you will drive customer satisfaction, product success, and business growth. 

Responsibilities: 

Strategic Leadership 

  • Vision and Strategy: Develop and communicate a clear UX vision that aligns with the company’s overall goals and strategy, integrating education and technical communication components. 
  • Customer-Centric Culture: Foster a user-first mindset across the organization, advocating for UX, education services, and accessible content at the executive level.
  • Innovation: Drive innovative approaches to UX design, education solutions, and user documentation, leveraging the latest trends, tools, and technologies. 

Operational Leadership 

  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of UX designers, researchers, technical writers, and accessibility experts.
  • Education Services: Partner with the training and enablement teams to create user-centric education programs, including digital courses, webinars, and product tutorials.
  • Technical Writing: Oversee the development of clear, concise, and engaging product documentation, ensuring it enhances user understanding.
  • Process Optimization: Define and implement processes for design systems, user research, usability testing, and content development to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Collaboration: Partner with product management, engineering, and marketing teams to integrate UX, education, and technical writing seamlessly into the product lifecycle. 

Customer Insights and Advocacy 

  • User Research: Oversee the development and execution of user research strategies to gain deep insights into customer needs, behaviors, and pain points, extending to education and documentation.
  • Data-Driven Design: Use quantitative and qualitative data to guide UX and educational decisions and measure the impact of changes.
  • Accessibility Leadership: Ensure all products and materials meet accessibility standards, providing inclusive experiences for all users. 

Business Impact 

  • Customer Engagement: Elevate customer satisfaction, retention, and adoption through intuitive designs, accessible education, and engaging documentation.
  • Product Success: Drive KPIs such as task success rates, customer satisfaction scores (CSAT), and the effectiveness of education materials.
  • Industry Leadership: Position the company as a leader in UX, education, and technical communication by participating in conferences, publishing thought leadership, and contributing to the broader community.
  • PLG Forward: Collaborate with engineering and marketing to ensure best in class user experiences to facilitate PLG.  

Required Qualifications: 

Leadership Experience: 

  • 10+ years in UX leadership roles, including experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proven ability to build and scale UX, education, and technical writing teams in a fast-paced tech environment. 

Technical Expertise: 

  • Deep understanding of UX principles, usability, interaction design, information architecture, and education methodologies.
  • Experience with design tools such as Figma, Miro, and prototyping tools.
  • Familiar with developing educational materials and user documentation.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus. 

Business Acumen: 

  • Demonstrated ability to provide UX strategy in order to meet business objectives and deliver measurable results.
  • Strong track record of aligning UX, documentation, and training initiatives with product roadmaps. 

Communication Skills: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Expertise in storytelling and presentation to effectively articulate UX, education, and documentation visions and decisions. 

Salary Range:

  • The anticipated base salary range for this position is between $250,000 and $300,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location and relevant experience, education, certifications, and seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. There is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
