This role is a remote contractor position. BetterCloud has a dynamic and growing presence, with offices in New York City, Atlanta, GA, and our first international office in Mexico City. As a Manual QA Engineer at BetterCloud, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products through thorough manual testing. We are looking for someone who is passionate about identifying issues, improving processes, and working collaboratively with engineering teams to deliver high-quality software. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring the best user experience by meticulously testing software and identifying areas for improvement.

About You:

  • You have at least 2-3 years of experience as a Manual QA Engineer or in a similar role, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • You’re comfortable testing web applications and ensuring they work smoothly for users.
  • You have an experience in clarifying business requirements
  • You are skilled in designing, executing, and reporting on test cases, with a strong focus on thorough and effective testing strategies.
  • You are comfortable documenting and troubleshooting issues, providing clear feedback to developers and stakeholders.
  • You have a solid understanding of various testing methods, techniques, and types (e.g., functional, regression, usability, etc.).
  • You enjoy working in an Agile environment and collaborating closely with developers to keep things moving quickly.
  • You have strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • You’re comfortable with English (B2+), and can work effectively with teams across different locations.
  • You have an analytical mindset and strong problem-solving abilities, enabling you to quickly identify issues and find effective solutions.
  • You have experience with SQL and are comfortable running queries to verify data and troubleshoot issues

 

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with teams in the US, Mexico, India and Ukraine to solve complex challenges of product integration and simplification of tech stack. 
  • Perform thorough functional testing for new features
  • Identify, record, document thoroughly, and track bugs
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., developers and product managers) to identify new feature requirements
  • Diagnose and report issues and defects based on test failures
  • Work independently and communicate with the various teams involved with the release process and testing
  • Fully participate in the testing process through the entire lifecycle

Nice to have

Experience in working with test management systems (Zephyr/TestRail etc.)Experience in working with ticket/document management systems (JIRA/Confluence)Hands on experience with test automation processesExperience in working with/testing GraphQL/REST API

Goals

By the end of week 1, you will:

  • Meet with your onboarding buddy
  • Set up meet-and-greets with stakeholders and your peers in other squads
  • Learn how the engineering organization is structured
  • Become familiar with how we plan, build and deploy work at BetterCloud
  • Ensure you have access to all our software development tools

By the end of 30 days, you will:

  • Become familiar with the code base for the product(s) you support
  • Ensure your local build environment is set up and functional
  • Identify technical mentoring opportunities for your team and a plan to provide that mentorship
  • Become familiar with the roadmap and priorities for your team
  • Begin implementation of your team’s top priorities, working closely with the staff engineer and other team members
