The Job in a Nutshell💡

We are seeking a Director of Design (all genders) to lead our design teams and drive the design vision and strategy across the company. As a key member of the leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the customer delivery experience on our Android, iOS, and web platforms, which help connect couriers, restaurants, and customers for seamless deliveries. Your leadership will have a direct impact on millions of users around the globe.

This role has high business and social impact, with significant influence over the product direction and user experience strategy. As a design leader, you will oversee multiple design teams, blending strategic leadership with coaching, while fostering collaboration across the organization. This role requires you to be a visionary leader who is not only a UX champion but also a strategic partner in the company’s growth.

As the Director of Design, you will own the design vision, ensuring it aligns with business objectives, and guide your teams to deliver innovative, intuitive, and scalable user experiences that support our business goals. You will also be responsible for nurturing and growing a world-class design organization, fostering a culture of creativity, inclusion, and excellence.

If you're eager to take on this rewarding opportunity, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today!

What You Will Do💡

  • Lead, manage, and inspire a growing design organization, managing other design managers but also Principal ICs, and helping set the team up for success as the company grows and changes.
  • Set the design vision and strategy for the entire organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and product strategies. Influence key stakeholders, including executive leadership, on design thinking and user-centric practices.
  • Drive design innovation by setting a high bar for creative problem-solving and user experience, ensuring that design plays a key role in shaping the overall product vision and roadmap.
  • Mentor and coach senior design leaders, helping them grow their teams and develop their skills. Foster an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement, and design excellence across the organization.
  • Establish and enforce design best practices, from UX/UI standards to user-centered design processes, ensuring consistency and quality across all products, whilst balancing this with a pragmatic approach.
  • Own key design metrics (KPIs) and work closely with product and business leaders to ensure that design contributes to meeting business goals. Take ownership of design OKRs and provide strategic direction for the teams. Set great goals for your direct reports.
  • Act as the primary liaison between design, product, engineering, and executive leadership, ensuring alignment and smooth execution across all teams.
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across 10+ teams, facilitating workshops, ideation sessions, and design critiques to harness creativity and innovation.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and competitor experiences, ensuring that our design approach is forward-thinking and competitive.
  • Advocate for the voice of the customer, continuously gathering qualitative and quantitative insights through user research to inform product decisions and improve the user experience.
  • Manage multiple high-priority design work streams, ensuring consistency across the user experience and alignment with broader business strategies.
  • Represent design at the executive level, driving clarity and alignment on critical design decisions and advocating for the importance of user experience in business success.
