The Role

Bega Group are seeking an experienced Quality Specialist to ensure quality assurance of products (spreads), systems and materials and ensure quality is in line with company or national and international standards.

Our Port Melbourne site is not only the home of Vegemite it is also the home of other Australian iconic products, such as Bega Peanut Butter, Bega Simply Nuts, Zoosh and Cream Cheese. VEGEMITE has been proudly made in Port Melbourne, Australia since 1923.

This is a Fixed-Term maternity leave cover position working full-time Mon-Fri.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with production staff and senior management and to ensure any quality problems are addressed, corrective action is taken and preventative action implemented

  • Coordinate internal audits, CCP verification activities and glass and plastics program

  • Monitor the department hygiene standards through inspections and swabbing activities and to assist the site service team with trouble shooting and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Participate in HACCP, GMP and sanitary design evaluations for plant modifications and capital projects

  • Deviation Management, including: Reporting, preparation, writing, support for RCA’s, CAPA’s, ERF’s, and EQA’s.

About you

  • Knowledge of analytical methods used to assess product quality and safety in a food manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of the use of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for product quality assessment and control

  • Strong attention to detail and demonstrated problem-solving ability

  • Strong time management and prioritization skills

  • Exposure to HACCP / GMP / Good Laboratory Practices is desired.
