We place a strong emphasis on Terraform / Opentofu, DevOps, GitOps, and the "everything as code" philosophy, prioritizing consistency and simplicity. Scalr builds a management layer atop Terraform / Opentofu, which assists DevOps in scaling across their entire organization. As an engineering organization, we also embrace a DevOps approach, researching cloud services, adopting best practices, and utilizing Terraform / Opentofu throughout. This enables us to better understand our customers' challenges and use cases.

As we expand our offerings, we are seeking a skilled SRE Tech Lead Engineer with a passion for pushing the boundaries of technology to solve complex problems.

Position Overview

As a SRE Tech Lead Engineer, you will contribute in multiple ways: by designing new architecture components, promoting and enforcing effective SRE and DevOps practices, driving strategic technical improvements, and mentoring other engineers. You will play an integral role in our platform, contributing significantly to its reliability, scalability, and efficiency. The main infrastructure technology stack includes GCP, GitHub (including GA for CI/CD), Terraform, DataDog, Sentry, Grafana.

Qualifications:

🔸 Experience in architecting, launching, and maintaining complex architecture for distributed web applications.

🔸 Proven previous experience in technical leadership positions, including capabilities in mentoring, navigating SRE teams, and making high-quality technical decisions.

🔸 Strong knowledge in:

- Terraform (for GCP)
- Linux (RHEL/Debian, bash scripting, strong linux internal knowledge)
- Docker
- Google Cloud Platform
- Monitoring, logging such as Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog, New Relic, Sentry, etc.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, CircleCI or similar.

🔸Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Would Be a Plus:

🔸 Python experience (experience in Python scripting is enough)
🔸 Experience with GitOps, Argo CD, Flux CD or similar

🔸 Experience with Chef, Omnibus, Ruby
🔸 Experience with Go

What You’ll Do:

🔶 Strategy:
🔸 Take part in strategic planning by assessing the complexity and risks of the product roadmap from an infrastructure perspective (observability, performance, stability, reliability, etc.)
🔸 Create and maintain SRE roadmap and be ready to advocate for the priority and business necessity of its development, including new tasks and refactorings.
🔸 Develop and define the infrastructure architecture, considering current and future challenges. Continuously adapt the architecture to meet current needs, enhance technical efficiency, and ensure infrastructure scalability.
🔸 Manage the infrastructure technology stack, including evaluating and integrating new CI/CD and monitoring tools, libraries etc.
🔸 Cooperates with other Tech Leads, and coordinates interaction with other departments
🔸 Creates rules and standards application and infrastructure reliability (SLO, SLA etc)

🔶 Team:
🔸 Act as a leader who actively participates in system maintenance and solves complex technical challenges, guiding the team towards high-quality software development
🔸 Validate critical tasks, provide consultation, and assist in solving complex technical problems while being directly involved in the SRE process.
🔸 Stimulating team work and enhancing the manifestation of ownership, autonomy, and continuous growth
🔸 Serve as an arbitrator in decision-making during controversial situations, while remaining actively engaged in the technical aspects of projects

🔸 Teaches, mentors, and ensures employees have the appropriate level of knowledge to work with different system components; initiates mentoring, Q&A sessions, and knowledge reviews
