Backend Software Engineer (Remote)

This role requires strong web application development skills in an Azure/Sitecore/C# development environment, the ability to properly prioritize, own and drive the work, and work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams in an agile environment.
The Work
ICF is supporting California State Government customer applications, which are built with Sitecore and React components. The delivery team consists of delivery support, front- and back-end developers, UX/UI designers, content strategists, SMEs, business analysts, testers, and infrastructure and security professionals. The team works in 2-week iterations (10-week program increments) to develop new features, functionality, and modernization supporting both Information Technology and Marketing roadmaps.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to service dedicated client account in an Agile environment
Develop impactful features and/or fixes from a back-end development perspective for an enterprise-level web application
Implement and/or introduce modernization to Sitecore and .NET C# applications
Coordinate with and work alongside front-end developers to integrate front-end development deliverables with the Sitecore Content Management System (CMS)
Optimize technical documentation standards, internal processes, and solutioning
Troubleshoot complex systems and 3rd party integrations
Ensure comprehensive testing and remediation is performed on completed work alongside QA team members, as well as developing unit tests
Provide accurate documentation and ticket updates to the team’s Microsoft DevOps platform to enable accurate insight into the work being performed
Help business analysts write out granular user stories from a back-end development perspective by identifying any gaps, breaking down requirements into tasks, and/or providing estimates.
Troubleshoot current and legacy systems
Participate in agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospective meetings
Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
Foster client relationship from a technical aspect
Participate in incident response as a member of the on-call incident management rotation
Required Skills and Qualifications:
7+ years of experience developing enterprise-level web applications as a back-end engineer OR 3+ years of experience and a bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related scientific or technical discipline
3+ years of experience installing, configuring, and supporting high-availability databases for large-scale complex applications and monitoring the department’s cloud-based solutions and environments
2+ years of experience supporting and/or leading designing large-scale complex databases
2+ years of experience performance tuning databases and indexes for large-scale SQL databases, troubleshooting/resolving database performance issues, connectivity issues, security issues, etc.
Must be able to travel to California for fingerprinting
You must be a U.S. Citizen (required by government for the position)
All work must be conducted within the U.S.
Professional Skills:
Proficiency in the concepts involved with object-oriented programming (OOP)
Strong understanding of .NET, C#, SQL, MVC
Proficiency with at least one version control system, ideally git
Familiarity with developing solutions alongside a Content Management System (CMS) such as Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), WordPress, or similar
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-workstream project team
Very strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent attention to detail
Preferred Skills:
Experience developing using Entity Framework
Experience writing unit tests
Experience troubleshooting and resolving security vulnerabilities within an application
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$84,533.00 - $143,706.00
