Role Summary

Spring's Financial Counselors assists patients with treatment estimates and collaborates with external parties to ensure their financial coverage. Working independently, the Financial Counselor will explain financial information, determine insurance coverage, and educate the patients on their financial options.

Some day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Furnishing patients and healthcare providers with estimates related to upcoming treatment
  • Collecting estimated liabilities from patients and applying payments to patient accounts
  • Acquire knowledge of patient’s insurance coverage and benefit limits and communicate it to the patients to make them aware of their financial responsibilities
  • Communicate to internal staff in a clear and concise manner the financial status of the patient by analyzing and reviewing the patient’s accounts receivables and trying to resolve any issues related to it
  • Initiating prior authorization requests per insurance carrier requirements
  • Ensure reimbursement is obtained for medical services provided for non-insured and under-insurance patients
  • Identify and work to minimize potential financial risk of patient accounts through working daily time of service reports
  • Act as a resource representative when questions arise regarding registration errors, proper insurance documentation and accounting correction
Education and Skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • 2 + years of experience in fertility or healthcare
  • Proficient knowledge of medical terminology and billing practices
  • Proficiency in MS Office required
  • Experience with electronic medical records
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts to patients
  • Flexible availability which may include working some weekends and holidays
Employment Type

This is a full-time (40 hours a week/8 hours per day) non-exempt remote position working PST hours. 

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $60,000 - $68,000 annually. Salary is based on several factors including job related knowledge and skill set, depth of experience, certifications and/or degrees.
