The Role

As the Sr Director, Revenue Accounting, you’ll lead and manage the revenue accounting team. As an expert in revenue recognition under ASC 606 particularly in the Software/SaaS industry, you’ll collaborate closely with teams across BeyondTrust, providing strategic insights and guiding the revenue accounting function as a trusted business advisor to the Go to Market organization. With a focus on automation, scalability, and process improvement, you’ll help streamline operations and set a high standard of excellence. The ideal candidate is a dynamic leader with a proven record of building high-performing teams and enhancing operational efficiencies, ready to make a significant impact in a high-growth environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, develop, and coach the revenue accounting team
  • Manage the month-end revenue close process including reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations and roll forwards, and supporting fluctuation analysis for related revenue accounts
  • Lead initiatives to enhance scalability, automation, and efficiency within the revenue accounting team, aligning with broader accounting goals to streamline and shorten the month-end close process
  • Act as advisor to the business regarding revenue recognition impact for new go-to-market strategies including new products, deal structure, pricing and contract terms
  • Manage the contract review process, ensuring revenue is recognized in accordance with GAAP and revenue accounting policies are applied consistently
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative working relationships across the company including Sales, Sales Operations, Revenue Operations, FP&A, Quote to Cash, Legal, Product Management, and Professional Services
  • Oversee the drafting and review of revenue technical accounting memos applying ASC 606 guidance, particularly for significant or unusual contract terms
  • Lead the establishment of a Revenue Center of Excellence
  • Manage periodic stand-alone selling price (SSP) analysis
  • Ensure the revenue accounting team’s process narratives and internal controls are documented and prepared for SOX/Internal Controls testing, in collaboration with Internal Audit
  • Assist with the preparation and review of revenue-related schedules and disclosures for internal and external financial reporting purposes
  • Support the external audits by managing revenue-related support requests and audit questions

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 12-15 years of professional experience with a mix of public accounting experience and Software/SaaS experience
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP, ASC 606, and revenue recognition principles
  • Proven supervisory skills with at least 5 years in a revenue accounting leadership role
  • CPA certification
  • Strong working knowledge of financial systems including Netsuite Advanced Revenue Management (ARM) and Salesforce
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to understand business needs, analyze complex issues, and present ideas clearly and concisely to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, fast-growing company
