Summary of Job Duties:
The Principal Investigator is seeking a full-time (100% FTE) Research Assistant to work on research projects that focus on identifying barriers to smoking cessation among adults who use menthol cigarettes. The Research Assistant will gain experience conducting research with adults who smoke and experience in health disparities, mobile health (mHealth), and behavioral research. The Research Assistant will assist the Principal Investigator(s)/Project Leader on all aspects of the projects. The Research Assistant will report to the Principal Investigator/Project Leader.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Experience in statistical analyses, health, computer science, marketing research, or related field may also be considered.
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Experience in working on surveys or focus groups/qualitative interviews is a bonus
Experience in developing PowerPoint and other scientific presentations.
Use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders.
Ability to work in a team and independently.
Be highly motivated and creative, and have critical thinking skills.
Be resourceful; responsible; accountable; and collaborative; and have problem-solving skills.
Must be willing to screen and recruit participants.

Participates in research involving human subjects and secondary data analysis.
Responsible for participant recruitment, screening, scheduling, visits, retention, and informed consent/assent.
Coordinates and collects qualitative (interviews), quantitative (surveys, mHealth surveys), and biospecimen/biological samples data.
Assists with the analysis, handling, storage, and shipping of qualitative, quantitative, and biospecimen data.
Establishes and maintains accurate participant recruitment, screening, scheduling, contact, retention, and incentive records and keeps track of, monitors, enters, and summarizes study data in REDCap and other databases.
Assists with mail.
Communicate with the Principal Investigator/Project Leader on study progress.
Synthesizes data and works with the team to write reports.
Assists with outreach and communication to partners.
Completes standard paperwork on recruitment/enrollment progress.
Assists with the development of professional presentations, peer-reviewed manuscripts, and protocols for training and research studies.
Assists with submitting, updating, and reporting Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications for human subject research.
Participates in recruitment, screening, scheduling, visits, and retention.
Enters and maintains recruitment, screening, and participant contact records.
Obtains informed consent/assent.
Assists with conducting focus groups/ interviews, note-taking, survey dissemination and administration, and development of assessments and interventions.
Collects, stores, and ships biological samples.
Collects data across the state, including rural areas.
Participates in regular project meetings, and training.
Provides updates on progress, and communicates regularly with the study team on recruitment and data collection progress.
Works with the study team to problem-solve issues, develop appropriate solutions, and assist the study team when needed.
Works with the study team to develop and implement secure systems for assuring the quality, confidentiality, and safety of the data and work with data manager to maintain appropriate study logs, records, and databases.
Works with the team to analyze qualitative and quantitative data, write papers, and prepare presentations.
Works with the Investigator Team to develop regular reports of study progress and preliminary data.
Performs other duties as assigned.
