Job Description

As an Associate Systems Engineer, you will contribute to the development of reference solutions and technical documentation that help customers solve real-world challenges using Renesas' embedded processing products. You’ll work in a global, multi-disciplinary team of Systems, Software, Firmware, and Hardware engineers, collaborating with cross-functional teams like Product Marketing and Application Engineering to create high-quality solutions.

 

In your role as an Associate Systems Engineer, you’ll embark on an exciting journey of skill-building and innovation by engaging in:

- Developing, debugging, and optimizing firmware and software for embedded systems.

- Creating technical documentation to support designed solutions, ensuring clarity for end-users.

- Participating in design reviews for boards, systems, and firmware/software to ensure robust solutions.

- Assisting with board and system bring-up and debugging, contributing to system reliability.

- Evaluating user experience with Renesas offerings for product development, recommending improvements as needed.

- Creating and presenting training materials for microcontrollers, designs, and software/firmware.

 

Qualifications

 

 

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

 

Must Have:

The following qualifications are essential to ensure success in this role and to help you contribute meaningfully to the team from day one:

  • Foundational knowledge of CPU architecture and design.
  • Hands-on experience with microcontroller/microprocessor programming and peripheral operations such as serial communication, timers, ADC, DAC, etc.
  • Proficiency in developing and debugging firmware/software using assembly, C, and C++.
  • Experience with lab test equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and DMMs.
  • Ability to interpret hardware schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Strong communication skills, including technical writing and presentation skills.

 

Nice to Have:

In addition to the necessary qualifications, the following skills will help accelerate your growth within the team and organization:

  • Familiarity with Renesas Microcontroller or Microprocessor products

Hands-on experience:

  • Embedded development using IDEs like Eclipse, IAR Embedded Workbench, Keil MDK.
  • Board bring-up, debugging products/systems.
  • Developing/debugging multi-threaded applications with RTOS.
  • Communication protocols such as CAN, Ethernet, USB.
  • Designing digital/analog hardware for board-level circuits.
  • Running ML inference on resource-constrained embedded systems.
  • Experience with Python application development.
  • Familiarity with Git, unit testing frameworks in C or C++
