Job description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior System Engineer to join our team to install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems applications at satellite facilities in the Virginia, Maryland, DC area supporting large scale government programs. As a Senior Systems Engineer you will collaborate and work closely with our Data Center Engineering and Infrastructure team to create and install software and assist with coding, testing, system reviews, and compiling scripts. You will also work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deploy, maintain, and ensure successful software operation at satellite facilities to meet Program requirements.

*This position requires up to 75% travel in the Maryland, Virginia, and DC area.

 

Responsibilities: 

- Collaborate with development teams and program leadership to plan and execute deployment strategies and timelines. 

- Manage software versioning and ensure proper code repository maintenance. 

- Implement automation tools and scripts for efficient and consistent deployments.

- Conduct Diagnostics and Troubleshooting of complex network issues, using Cisco tools and protocols to ensure uptime and performance across diverse data centers.   

- Conduct thorough testing to verify functionality and compatibility of deployed software. 

- Monitor live deployments, identify issues, and provide timely resolutions to minimize downtime. 

- Maintain detailed documentation of deployment processes and configurations. 

Requirements: 

- Field deployment experience, with the ability to travel and perform on-site installation and configurations. 

- Demonstrated experience in Cisco technical environments

- Demonstrated experience with VMware

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related field or applicable work experience. 

- Secret security clearance. 

- Eight years of Systems Engineer experience, preferably in the government sector. 

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  

- Ability to relate to and understand customer needs in order to build relationships and drive customer success. 

- Excellent communication, computer, and analytical skills. 

 - Demonstrated knowledge of Data Center Infrastructure from both a hardware and software perspective

Desired Certifications and Skills: 

- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer 

- VMware Certified Professional 5 

- Software Engineering Master Certification 

- Amazon Web Services Certified DevOps Engineer 

- Experience with network monitoring tools such as WTI, or RoomAlert
