Job Description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Community Outreach Coordinator to join our team in Houston, Texas. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for developing and implementing community engagement strategies, fostering relationships with local partners, and promoting our mission throughout the diverse neighborhoods of Houston.

  • Develop and execute community outreach programs and initiatives to increase awareness and support for our organization
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, local businesses, and partner organizations
  • Plan, coordinate, and attend community events, workshops, and meetings to represent our organization
  • Create and manage social media content to engage with the community and promote our programs
  • Design and distribute informational materials, including brochures, flyers, and newsletters
  • Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for various community projects and events
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align outreach efforts with organizational goals
  • Track and report on outreach activities, including metrics and success stories
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities for community partnerships and collaborations
  • Stay informed about local issues and trends affecting the Houston community

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Social Work, or related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in community outreach, public relations, or a related field
  • 2-3 years in grant funding and investor writing
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Proficiency in event planning and coordination
  • Experience with social media management and content creation
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
  • Project management abilities and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management
  • Knowledge of local community issues and resources in Houston
  • Understanding of nonprofit organizations and community development
  • Familiarity with Houston's diverse communities and neighborhoods
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
