The role
As an Assistant Project Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Nuclear Facilities is a growing business unit within Babcock Nuclear Group. Our mission is to safely deliver world class nuclear facilities in support of the Submarine and Equipment programmes within the Devonport Royal Dockyard. We have a programme of investment over the next five years that will see the transformation of the facilities to support the companies’ ambitions. 

 

Day-to-day, you’ll provide project management to specific packages of work, support to Project Managers in the day-to-day delivery of programmes of work.  

 

  • Coordinating customer interfaces and associated stakeholders including identification and monitoring of project risks, planning and implementing responses.
  • Supporting governance arrangements for the delivery of the project, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities
  • Planning and delivery of elements of the project lifecycle including the submission of regular monthly performance reports and escalation of issues.
  • Managing the delivery of physical works being undertaken onsite ensuring high safety standards are always adhered to.
  • Working within established company policies and procedures whilst promoting company values and standards and exhibit appropriate behaviour in accordance with Company principles

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 3 days in the office/onsite and 2 days working from home.

 

Essential experience of the Assistant Project Manager:

  • Knowledge and/or experience of Project Management techniques and activities
  • Ability to capture project information and present it in easy-to-understand formats
  • A proactive/flexible approach with the ability to work collaboratively with a strong focus on customer satisfaction
  • Ability to build rapport and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at various levels of seniority
  • A proactive approach with the ability to collaborate and inspire others to deliver outcomes

 

Qualifications for the Assistant Project Manager:

  • Minimum ONC in an engineering discipline, Business qualification (Diploma in management minimum) or relevant industrial/commercial experience 
  • APM Project Management Fundamentals (PFQ) or equivalent qualification in project management
