MDC is at the forefront of innovation within the credit union industry and we are seeking a forward-thinking Senior Manager, Brand Strategy, to craft and elevate our brand presence. This role is pivotal in shaping how we communicate our vision to our 80+ credit union owners and the broader financial services sector. The Senior Manager, Brand Strategy will collaborate across all departments—project execution, events, owner relations, product growth, finance, and board relations—to ensure our brand reflects the transformative work we’re doing with credit unions through collaborative innovation. The ideal candidate will be both strategic and creative, with a passion for blending research and insights into cohesive, impactful brand stories.
Job Purpose:
This position drives the strategic direction, execution oversight, and day-to-day management of the MDC brand, including all marketing and communications efforts. This leader will have direct impact on key performance indicators (KPIs) tied to relevance, value, and engagement. Excellent writing skills are critical as this position will be the primary copywriter and will own and project the MDC voice.
Job Responsibilities:
MDC’s Senior Manager, Brand Strategy oversees key brand elements including strategy, voice, design, stories, and experience. You have a pivotal role in creating authentic and resonant connections with our owners, partners, and employees. You must be a great writer and understand design enough to direct design elements to support brand strategy. You care passionately about credit unions, the work that MDC does, and the role we play in the future of the industry we serve.
Create and execute MDC’s brand strategy
- Oversee key elements related to brand including overall strategy, voice, design, stories, and experience.
- Drive the ongoing development and refinement of MDC’s brand strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, audiences, and values.
- Serve as day-to-day brand oversight for MDC.
- Craft compelling stories to shape how MDC is perceived.
- Partner with creative resources to ensure alignment and cohesion of brand messages and content strategy across customer touchpoints (website, owner portal, webinars, events, quarterly board packet, monthly newsletter, social media, etc.).
- Collaborate with internal departments such as project execution, events, owner relations, product growth, finance, and board relations to integrate the brand strategy seamlessly into all aspects of the business.
- Develop and execute brand strategy for new projects, products, and partnerships.
- Tailor brand experiences for owners depending on where they are on the journey (prospects, onboarding, highly engaged, disengaged, etc.)
Conduct and analyze data and market research
- Develop strong voice of customer (VOC) strategy and leverage create ways (beyond surveys) to gather customer insights.
- Leverage customer insights to further refine how we bring our brand principles and attributes to life.
- Conduct market research to stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and owner preferences.
- Use insights gathered to refine brand strategies and ensure our brand remains relevant and competitive.
- Develop, manage, and report campaign success metrics and corresponding business implications.
Leverage powerful tools
- Possess a working knowledge of AI tools and how to leverage them for ideation and efficiency. Be curious around the power of AI and how this technology can change the way we work, communicate, and show up for our credit unions.
- Evaluate effectiveness of current key platforms (Igloo, Mailchimp, Zoom Webinar, etc.) and make recommendations for improvement.
- Nice to have…Working knowledge and familiarity with some or all tools we use such as Canva, Cloudways, Cvent, Igloo Software, LinkedIn, Mailchimp, Vimeo, WordPress, Zoho Surveys. Also full Adobe suite, Google Analytics, and Zoom Webinar.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or business.
- 10+ years of experience within brand strategy and/or brand marketing.
- Experience with credit unions, financial services, and/or fintech.
- Experience leveraging brand measurement to build and finesse brand experiences to drive business results.
- Working knowledge of AI tools and how to leverage them for ideation and efficiency
- B2B2C business model experience preferred.
- Strong collaborator in a cross-functional environment.
- Clear, concise, and compelling communicator.
- Excellent writing skills—this position will be the primary copywriter and will own and project the MDC voice.
- Public speaking skills, with the ability to lead presentations and meetings
- Ability to Influence peers and exercise upward influence to bring momentum to new initiatives.
- Detail-oriented; highly organized; ability to multitask and prioritize projects.
- Ability to use data and analytics to sharpen brand storytelling to drive impact.
- Periodic travel required.

Compensation may vary based on the job level, your geographic work location, position incentive plan and exemption status.
Base Salary Range:
$98,200.00 - $147,400.00
