The Clinical Content Specialist is a member of the Core Drug Information team within Micromedex Editorial Services of Merative. Clinical Content Specialists are responsible for creation and review of clinical drug content, providing the most current, accurate, and clinically relevant information for Micromedex® drug-related content sets. Essential Job Duties:  

The Clinical Content Specialist is responsible for synthesizing multiple, complex sources of information for content creation, review, and maintenance.  

  • Identifies, evaluates, and synthesizes appropriate literature to create clinically accurate and relevant drug information content for the Micromedex® suite of products and other Merative clinical workflow solutions. 

  • Applies critical literature evaluation skills along with knowledge of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, disease states, and therapeutic endpoints to accurately assess drug therapy literature and synthesize complex information from multiple, sometimes conflicting sources to form a clinical conclusion. 

  • Reviews content and provides feedback to peers.  

  • Researches and resolves content inquiries from customers and internal departments. 

  • Develops, maintains, and implements editorial policies and style guidelines. 

  • Maintains awareness of current controversies, issues, and developments in drug therapy and clinical practice. 

  • May provide support to other departments and business units as required. 

 

Basic Qualifications (minimum requirements needed to perform this job)  

  • Minimum 3 years clinical pharmacy or nursing practice experience 

  • Demonstrated writing ability and knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure; computer literacy; knowledge of word processing and relational database applications 

  • Strong computer skills; familiarity with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and Adobe Professional 

  • Solid knowledge of Internet search engines and strategies 

 

Preferred Skills 

  • Clinical experience in oncology or hematology 

  • Demonstrated ability to apply clinical knowledge and experience in critical thinking and problem-solving; ability to recognize discrepancies in data and interpret and draw inferences from complex data 

  • Ability to solve problems, independently organize work, and perform multiple tasks 

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with management and other team members 

  • Demonstrated expertise in critical literature evaluation skills 

 

Education and Certification Requirements 

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or clinical nursing degree (BSN or higher) required (residency preferred) 

  • Active pharmacy or nursing license (may be held in any of the 50 US states) 

 

Work Environment 

  • Office/Work Environment Specifics: Remote environment collaborating with other healthcare professionals. 

  • Travel requirements (if applicable): minimal for in-person team meetings (approximately annually)
