About LexisNexis Practical Guidance team

LexisNexis Practical Guidance is an online solution offering practically focused content that lawyers need to conduct a matter. Guidance, practice tips, legislation, cases, checklists, tools, precedents and news are all in one place and in the context of a lawyer’s workflow.

About the Role

We are seeking a driven and enthusiastic paralegal to provide legal research, project and administrative support to our team of legal writers.


We have a large team of legal writers who are responsible for developing premium content, including guidance notes, precedents and current awareness, for our 24 practice area modules. The legal writers are continually adding new content and reviewing and updating our existing content to ensure that it is accurate, current and tailored to the needs of our subscribers, and we are looking for a paralegal to support them.


Responsibilities:

Some examples of tasks that paralegals in the team may undertake include:

  • monitoring practice area developments and legal research

  • drafting news alerts

  • content review

  • reformatting content into new templates

  • maintaining marketing and training materials

  • liaising with external authors

Guidelines, training, peer review and expected outcomes for each piece of work will be provided. However, paralegals will need to work independently to achieve these outcomes.


Location and nature of role

We are looking for time commitment of approx. 3 days (21 hours) per week. Preference will be given to candidates who are able to work from our Melbourne or Sydney office, to maximise training and collaboration.


Requirements:

  • Law graduate preferred; law student (fourth/fifth year) considered

  • Practical experience in a legal / legal services institution essential

  • Experience or interest in commercial practice areas desirable

  • Exposure to LexisNexis products preferred

  • Competencies/Skills

  • Legal research

  • Understanding of Australian legislative process

  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively

  • Ability to complete work to a high standard and to schedule

  • Ability to follow processes and instructions accurately and thoroughly

  • Ability to prioritise
