The Assistant Actuary supports valuation analytics initiatives, GAAP production support, and project work for the Global Valuation Analytics team, contributes to the development and enhancement of the valuation analytics infrastructure and analytic foundation for global projects by developing methods, models, processes and systems to support initiatives, and performs valuation and financial analysis duties for the Global Valuation team.
Responsibilities
- Performs or assists with Global Valuation projects
- Supports GAAP reporting, analysis, and financial planning activities through the development and testing of enhancements for the traditional business reporting process
- Coordinates development items with other team members and assists with the communication of testing results with global stakeholders.
- Maintains and enhances documentation
- Assists with the development and automation of new reporting tools to support enhanced analysis shared across global valuation.
- Serves as a liaison with other valuation, pricing, administration, systems, accounting, audit, and finance associates.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field
- ASA accreditation
- 3+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance
Required Skills and Abilities
- Advanced PC and technical skills, including database applications (Snowflake, Vertica, SQLor equivalent technology, spreadsheets, actuarial software (Prophet or equivalent), and data analytics tools (Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI)
- Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders, including customers and associates.
- Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different disciplines, including pricing, finance, accounting, systems, and administration.
- Competent project management skills. Demonstrates an ability to evaluate project objectives and scope for feasibility and understanding.
- Advanced ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structures.
- Complex analytical and problem solving skills.
- Advanced knowledge of life, health, and/or annuity products.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, Statutory, and Tax valuation and financial reporting.
- Ability to work independently and to work well within a team environment and participate in department projects.

Compensation Range:
$84,860.00 - $115,445.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
