Deputy Director, Solar and Storage Team

SCOPE OF POSITION:

As a Deputy Director at ArcVera Renewables, a Bureau Veritas company, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality technical and commercial insights for solar and renewable energy projects. This remote position is ideal for a proactive and self-driven individual who will lead our U.S.-based solar and storage team. You will oversee independent technical due diligence, site inspections, design evaluations, and performance analysis, guiding clients through critical project milestones. Leveraging expertise in solar engineering and a deep understanding of the U.S. market, you will manage the full lifecycle of projects—from development to operations—ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and optimizing project outcomes.

The ideal candidate will be an industry-leading expert in solar generation and utility-scale construction, possessing extensive knowledge of end-to-end construction processes, power purchase agreements (PPAs), and wholesale electricity markets. As a technical advisor and consultant, you will deliver high-quality, finance-grade reports and provide independent opinions to stakeholders that may include among others; owners, developers, lenders, and Independent Power Producers (IPPs). In this role, you will foster client relationships, lead project teams, and be instrumental in driving technical excellence across ArcVera’s solar and storage initiatives, contributing to the advancement of the renewable energy landscape.

This role requires a deep understanding of solar meteorological data, energy simulation modeling, solar technology, and technical design, along with experience in operational project analysis. The individual will be responsible for interfacing directly with both existing and prospective clients, often in-person, and will also attend key industry conferences to represent ArcVera Renewables.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads due diligence and technical evaluations of solar and storage projects, providing comprehensive insights as an independent engineer.
  • Demonstrates the ability to conduct senior-level reviews of solar energy resource assessments, operational analyses, engineering evaluations, independent engineering reports, and other industry-standard reports for clients.
  • Interprets relevant codes, standards, and regulations to provide accurate internal guidance and technical advisory services to clients.
  • Conducts site visits inspections to evaluate project viability, constructability, milestone verification, and participate in industry conferences and off-site meetings.
  • Evaluates and delivers monthly performance reports on the operational efficiency of solar monitoring station assets.
  • Directs research and development of innovative techniques and tools to enhance reporting, software capabilities, and overall project deliverables.
  • Prepares and executes project proposals upon client approval, ensuring effective budget and personnel management, with oversight to deliver the project on time and within/under budget.
  • Builds and maintains client relationships through consistent communication, while seeking opportunities for continued or new engagements with current and potential clients.
  • Leverages comprehensive knowledge of ArcVera’s capabilities and services in client interactions to effectively represent the company and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Ensures that project deliverables incorporate the best insights, valuable client feedback, and transparency while delivering final results and reports that align with ArcVera's high standards.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Science, or technical related field.
  • 10+ years of solar engineering experience, specializing in technical due diligence and utility-scale project lifecycle management, from development through financing (Independent Engineering), operations, and repowering. While wind generation experience is advantageous, it is not a requirement.
  • Subject matter expertise in key areas such as interconnection, transmission, manufacturing (inverters, modules, batteries), structural foundation design, design engineering, environmental permitting.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication with the ability to convey ideas clearly and constructively in all interactions, promoting team collaboration and excellence.
  • Fully proficient in virtual work environments with strong adaptability to remote teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Power BI, SQL, Python, and other open-source software and user interfaces.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to both quantitative and written accuracy.
  • Strong critical thinker with forward-looking insights to improve analysis tools, methods, and service offerings.
  • Effective in time management, prioritizations and utilization achievements.

This is a fully remote position. Occasional travel is required, including trips to project sites and renewable energy conferences to meet with clients and potential clients, globally. Travel will not exceed 25%.
