Job Overview Summary
Software Test Engineering Team Leaders oversee a team of test engineers to deliver high quality releases. As the champion of quality for their product and the Technology Solutions group, Software Test Engineering Team Leaders are expected to champion quality-focused software design and implementation, drive processes to shift quality left, promote test automation goals and leverage their experience to mentor others to improve quality of product and processes.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Representing the Software Test Engineering team at product meetings (providing testing updates, escalating quality concerns, etc.)
- Leading testing efforts for large projects or entire products (coordinating the testing of global teams, communicating priorities and deadlines, etc.)
- Estimate the testing effort and staffing needs, to negotiate with management to acquire the necessary resources, for large projects or entire product
- Lead, guide and monitor the analysis, design, implementation and execution of the test cases, test procedures, and test suites
- Monitor, maintain, and periodically report on quality and operational metrics to measure and improve process and product quality
- Provide periodic updates regarding individual team member & team performance and escalating any concerns to the product STE Manager
- Coaching and providing feedback for other testers on the team and actively seeking mentoring opportunities for peers and less senior coworkers
- Suggesting improvements to testing, processes, strategies, and best practices
- Developing risk-based test strategies
- Managing product quality through issue prioritization, test planning, and cross team communication
- Ensure performance is actively managed, work is prioritized effectively, individual/team goals are allocated, achieved and quality gate criteria is met.
- Engaging and collaborating with a cross functional software development life cycle team to ensure high quality, timely product releases
- Actively participating in the continual improvement of the company’s Quality Management System
- Documenting software testing procedures
- Deploying and maintaining test environments
- Leveraging client experience data to improve quality of product and operations
- Using data to assess quality of product and efficiency of operations
- Applying various testing techniques such as functional, exploratory, or regression at an appropriate time
- Leading cross functional process initiatives within the SDLC organization
- Facilitating new employee onboarding through training and mentorships
- Advocate for shifting quality left across the SDLC roles.
Location
- This role is open to candidates working remotely or hybrid in India, Ireland, or the United States.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of software testing experience
- Minimum two years of experience leading testing projects
- Experience testing web applications, databases, and interfaces
- Experience or familiarity with regulatory requirements of ISO 9001 or ISO 13485, HIPAA, CMS, and/or 21CRF11
- Extensive experience with Agile methodologies including leading Agile ceremonies
- Experience leveraging test and deployment automation within the SDLC pipeline
- Experience leading with Root Cause Analysis and Corrective/Preventative Action initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience with test automation
- Experience in a technology driven, developing company
- Physical and Mental Requirements
- Sit or stand for extended periods of time at stationary workstation
- Regularly carry, raise, and lower objects of up to 10 Lbs.
- Learn and comprehend basic instructions
- Focus and attention to tasks and responsibilities
- Verbal communication; listening and understanding, responding, and speaking
