Job description

A bit about the role
Salary: Hourly rate 
Contract Type: Consultant
Location: East Midlands
Hours: Flexible as required to deliver the role (5-10hours/month)

Are you motivated by seeing an individual develop and being involved in those lightbulb moments? Our DiSE Mentor role is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about rowing and the development and education of young people in sport to become involved in our Diploma in Sporting Excellence Programme. You’ll work alongside a group of like-minded individuals who are all invested in youth development. 

As part of the role you’ll attend face to face and remote sessions with other mentors, club coaches and athletes on the programme, where you’ll support athletes and share ideas, review and standardise approaches.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support the Programme Manager where appropriate in the delivery of the DiSE Programme
  • Support, and attend the DiSE Programme Induction, Virtual Sessions and Camps
  • Support a group of athletes throughout their time on the programme, holding 1:1 and group discussions, assessing and providing feedback and further development opportunities and visiting them in their host clubs
  • Enthuse rowers, coaches and clubs about the DiSE Programme
  • Abide by and promote all British Rowing’s policies including Codes of Behaviour, Welfare, and Clean Sport Policies 

Mandatory Requirements
Essential
  • Able to communicate effectively, inspire and enable. 
  • Experience of coaching or development.
  • Current or willing to attend First Aid training.
  • Current or willing to attend Safeguarding and Protecting Children training.
  • Current or will be expected to complete a DBS documentation as obtained through British Rowing. 
  • Tutor and or Assessing Qualification.
Desirable
  • A qualification in coaching or similar.
  • A sporting qualification.
