Job description

Title: DevOps Engineer

Location: UK - Remote

About PSI

Role Responsibilities

  • Continually expand product insight with proactive monitoring and alerting.
  • Building and setting up new development tools and infrastructure.
  • Working with software developers and engineers to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended.
  • Working on ways to automate and improve development and release processes.
  • Linux administration and troubleshooting.
  • Support our existing infrastructure, deployed across multiple AWS regions.
  • Proactively identify improvements and recommend solutions.
  • Extend and enhance our automated DevOps environment.
  • Implement best practices for ensuring continued availability and security.
  • Stay ahead of issues with proactive monitoring and alerting.
  • Identifying technical problems and developing software updates and ‘fixes’.
  • Provide out of hours support and server updates.
  • Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats.
  • Facilitate development teams diagnosing and troubleshooting problems in test and product environments

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements

    • Experience with cloud environments (Azure or AWS)
    • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices such as:
      • source control - GitHub
      • CI/CD tools - Azure DevOps, GitHub actions.
      • infrastructure as code frameworks - Terraform. 
      • configuration management - Puppet.
      • scripting and programming languages - Bash, PowerShell, Python.
      • application performance monitoring - Site24x7, AppDynamics, Dynatrace.
    • Experience with web servers such as IIS, NGINX, and Apache.
    • Windows and Ubuntu/Linux server knowledge, container knowledge (e.g. Kubernetes/AKS), networking (e.g. DNS, IP, VPNs) is desirable.
