Job description

Note: This is a 2-month project.

We are excited to offer you the opportunity to score for the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTEA OP). This project supports the worldwide assessment to measure English language proficiency for adults whose primary language is not English. If you are a college graduate seeking temporary work, we invite you to join our team and score standardized assessments from the comfort of your home!

About The Role

As a Professional Scorer for the PTEA OP, you will evaluate challenging written responses that are based on a stringent set of rubrics. The majority of responses on this assessment are scored by an artificial intelligence system; however, you will be tasked with scoring outlier responses that could not be assessed by the AI. These responses may not closely align with the prompts, requiring you to make nuanced scoring decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate student responses to open-ended questions reliably and score according to the provided scoring guide.
  • Successfully internalize training materials and the customer scoring guide.
  • Pass a qualifying test before beginning scoring.
  • Apply the scoring guide without personal bias, adhering strictly to customer requirements.
  • Commit to scoring at least 20 hours per week between the core work hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Central Time, Monday-Friday to meet service level agreements that require scores to be returned within 72 hours.
