POSITION SUMMARY
The Risk Analyst is primarily responsible for supporting non-clinical risk management activities in both the inpatient and outpatient settings, with the objectives of supporting a safe environment and protecting the assets of the facility. The Risk Analyst will also support clinical risk work.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
Experience in Healthcare required. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree or higher preferred. Experience in Risk Management preferred. Certification (CPHRM) is preferred but required within 3 years of employment.
SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Strong written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal, motivational and conflict resolution skills. Strong management and administrative skills. Broad-based knowledge of hospital related regulatory compliance requirements. Presentation skills, team player, ability to influence change without direct authority, and negotiation skills.

Office and/or Clinical Setting. Exposure Class I or II – dependent on service.

OPERATIONS/COMPLIANCE:
Collaborates with the Risk Manager and/or the Regional Director of Risk Management to facilitate the deployment & education of the components of the facility’s risk management program. Contributes to the Ministry Risk Management plan. Recommends appropriate revisions to new or existing policies, procedures, and system changes to maintain adherence to current standards and requirements and identify potential risks and mitigation associated with that risk.
LIABILITY CLAIMS SUPPORT:
Works collaboratively with assigned Trinity Health Area Claims Manager and defense counsel to support discovery requests (access facility records, identify witnesses, schedule interviews, depositions and other discovery). In litigated claims, assists Trinity Health Insurance and Risk Management Services and legal counsel in accessing facility records and personnel. Participates in evaluation and negotiation of small claims for settlement based on administrative authority set by IRMS, approves payment for or replacement of lost property within administrative authority after evaluating claim.
RISK FINANCE SUPPORT:
Works collaboratively with Trinity Health Risk Finance to support renewals related the Master Corporate Insurance Program (Auto, property, General Liability, Professional Liability, Workers Compensation and Helipad). Reviews Contractual Agreements with respect to Insurance and Liability clauses making recommendations to reduce Ministry risk as appropriate. Refers contracts to Risk Finance for review as appropriate.
RECALL PROCESS MANAGEMENT:
Responsible for the integrity of the overall product recall process. Responsibilities include oversight for the timely and appropriate management of alerts in OneRecall and meeting regulatory requirements for reporting to the FDA pursuant to the Safe Medical Device Act.
PROPERTY LOSS PREVENTION AND CLAIMS REPORTING:
Collaborates with Ministry Facility Managers to mitigate identified risks of loss to property and ensuring appropriate controls and monitoring through risk assessments or other means. Collaborate with Ministry Facility Managers, restoration vendors, and property insurer to submit property claims. Responsible for oversight to maintain accurate and comprehensive locations in ClearSight. Review of lease agreements for appropriate level of insurance coverage per Trinity Health Insurance & Risk Management Services(IRMS) guidelines. Evaluates property exposures, including new construction and renovation programs and reports per guidelines to Risk Finance to obtain coverage and minimize risk.
TRANSPORTATION SAFETY AND AUTO CLAIMS REPORTING:
Collaborates with Ministry Transportation Services to mitigate risks of loss and ensure appropriate controls and monitoring through risk assessments or other means. Includes driver background checks, licensure, physical screening. Collaborates with Transportation Services to submit auto claims. Responsible for oversight of accurate and comprehensive fleet list in ClearSight.
SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES:
Collects, evaluates, and distributes relevant data. Assists with analysis of risk data; maintains statistical trending of losses and other risk management data. Support the mergers and acquisitions process.
Provide educational programs on non-clinical risk management topics as requested.
Other duties as assigned- including but not limited to supporting clinical risk management (such as event review, event reporting, oversee/facilitate causal analysis (root causes analysis, apparent cause analysis, common cause analysis), event management, other loss control/loss prevent activities.
Pay Range: $29.23hr- $46.77hr
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
