Reporting to the Manager, Business Intelligence & Analytics, the Analytics Business Analyst is responsible for producing, analyzing, specifying, and validating the business data requirements of stakeholders and end users. This position focuses on supporting Business Intelligence by gathering and compiling user requirements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate both analytical and project management skills, allowing them to translate complex requirements into actionable solutions that drive effective decision-making.
This role requires excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills to liaise between stakeholders and the technical team. The Analytics Business Analyst will also actively engage with Emerging Technology partners to explore innovative technologies that optimize business processes.
This position is based in one of our offices across Canada, including Calgary, Edmonton, Mississauga, Winnipeg, Richmond, Kelowna, Victoria, Montreal, Ottawa, Saint John, St. John's, and Halifax.
What You Will Be Working On
Strategy and Planning
Collaborate with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision.
Clearly identify project stakeholders, managing their expectations through effective communication processes.
Conduct interviews to gather user requirements through various methods, such as workshops, surveys, site visits, storyboards, and use cases.
Define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics.
Work with stakeholders and the project team to prioritize collected requirements.
Continuously research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and seek ways to enhance these processes.
Operational Management
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and document business requirements, translating them into clear, detailed technical requirements for data engineers and analysts.
Facilitate communication between business units and the data team to ensure clear alignment on project goals and deliverables.
Assist in the prioritization and planning of data projects to meet business objectives.
Support the development of data products by providing clear, concise requirements and ongoing feedback.
Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) to verify that solutions meet business needs.
Create and maintain documentation of business processes, requirements, and workflows.
Provide ongoing support and training to business users on data products and tools.
What We Are Looking For
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field.
6+ years of relevant work experience in data analytics or business intelligence environments.
Experience with end-to-end project management of Data projects.
Proven experience in business and technical requirements analysis, process modeling, and project planning.
Understanding of data analytics concepts, with the ability to translate business needs into detailed technical requirements for data engineers and analysts.
Demonstrated ability to create detailed, systematic requirements specifications.
Familiar in SQL, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel for data analysis.
Solid understanding of the data development life cycle and project management fundamentals.
Preferred experience with Construction software applications, such InEight or Trimble Construction 1, or similar industry-specific tools.
Desirable understanding of construction industry core business processes and operations.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and take action as needed.
Strong analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills, with an eye for detail and accuracy.
Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills to facilitate clear understanding among stakeholders.
Highly self-motivated and directed, with effective prioritization skills to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
Strong customer service orientation and experience in team-oriented, collaborative environments.
Demonstrated ability to build and manage strong relationships with stakeholders at various levels.
