PEOPLE TEAM GENERALIST

Bat Conservation International

 

Status: Full Time, Salaried

Location: Remote (U.S.)

Reports to: People Team Director (Stephania Alexander)

Key Relationship: Operations Team (People, Finance, IT)

Salary: $70,000 to $80,000, depending on organizational equity, experience and qualifications + benefits.

Our 67+ remote staff span biologists, conservation experts, and administrators across the U.S. and internationally, with support from members in 60 countries. Bats play a vital role in pest control, pollination, and seed dispersal, contributing billions of dollars in ecosystem services each year. However, they face increasing threats from habitat loss to climate change. Your Role as a People Team Generalist

Reporting directly to the People Team Director, the People Team Generalist will play a dual role in both managing and coordinating key HR activities for the organization. This position will execute day-to-day HR functions and assist in maintaining and supporting people-focused programs that helps staff contribute to our mission and work in a healthy, thriving, inclusive, and compliant workplace.


Key Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Contribute to People Strategy and Initiatives: Partner on the development and implementation of HR strategies that align with BCI’s mission and values and enhance organizational culture, including JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) initiatives across all HR functions.
  • Execute People Operations: Administer key HR systems (e.g., ADP Total Source, Staff Portal, Ethena, etc.), coordinate benefits, manage our people-focused activity calendar, and co-facilitate HR-led meetings and training sessions.
  • Policies & Compliance: Help develop, update, and maintain HR policies to promote a healthy, high-integrity, people-first workplace, applying progressive best practices.  
  • Oversee Core People Processes: Lead aspects of the employee lifecycle, such as the hiring process, including recruiting, welcoming, and onboarding team members. Administer the performance management process and support employee transitions, including exit planning and separation processes.
  • Support and Manage Core People Programs: Collaborate to design and administer people programs, manage learning and development activities, coordinate staff safety initiatives, support well-being programs, etc.
  • Staff Relations: Provide support and assist in employee relations matters, including investigations and conflict resolution, maintaining a respectful, productive work environment.
  • Additional Projects: Lead smaller HR projects, such as process improvements, HR metric reporting, and using technology to enhance data management and streamline process.

  • Are proactive in problem-solving and can manage both day-to-day HR tasks and long-term projects.
