Features Editor

 Toronto Life is looking to hire a features editor to help the editorial team create ambitious and compelling longform stories and expand and evolve the brand in new, exciting ways. This is a full-time, permanent role. The successful candidate will be passionate about magazines, have at least five years of experience as a longform features editor, and be intimately acquainted with Toronto. This is a hybrid role: some days are in office, others remote. 

In this role you will:

• Brainstorm, assign and edit high-calibre, thought-provoking features across platforms
• Contribute as a writer to the magazine, website, newsletters and across social media platforms
• Contribute to cover discussions 
• Mentor team members and help raise the quality of Toronto Life’s content across all platforms
• Manage relationships with the art, fact-checking and legal departments
• Work directly with regular freelancers and cultivate new writers
• Devise new initiatives for web and print

Qualifications and requirements:

• Minimum five years in a longform editing role 
• Strong grammatical skills
• Experience with InDesign/InCopy and WordPress 
• Portfolio of published work, as writer and editor
• Familiar with libel law
