Description

Position Summary: Come join a small, dynamic team of developers building important applications that help power university team travel across the US, from regular season through championship travel. Inside or outside IT, we have a great team culture where we genuinely enjoy who we work with. The successful candidate for this role initially will dive in to learn and support existing ColdFusion-based web applications used by staff and clients, but will also in time be involved in learning other application development platforms that might extend or replace some legacy systems. So, if you’ve already got ColdFusion application development mastered and are looking for a fantastic place to develop new skills, we could be a great fit!

What you can expect in this role

  • You’ll team with another developer with deep experience in our current ColdFusion (Lucee variant) server and application environment to learn our systems so you can ensure the smooth creation, deployment, and maintenance of dynamic, data-driven, web applications using the ColdFusion platform.
  • One of your core duties will be application development with CMFL to write clean, efficient code that solves problems, implements business logic, and ensures apps meet specified requirements.
  • You will provide ongoing support for applications, which includes debugging issues, updating existing applications, and responding to user feedback. This aspect of the role requires patience and a problem-solving mindset, as it’s crucial to efficiently address and resolve issues to maintain application quality and user satisfaction.
  • You’ll be responsible for designing, integrating, and maintaining databases that store and retrieve data for our applications. This involves writing SQL queries, using CF’s database application capabilities, ensuring data integrity and security along with efficient data access.
  • You will have basic front development experience (HTML, CSS, JS, etc.) to develop user interfaces that adhere to existing user interfaces. Bootstrap or any other CSS framework is a nice bonus. So, too, is responsive design.
  • Though we have web server administrators, you will have involvement in setting up and managing Lucee environments, ensuring applications are properly deployed, and monitoring server health and performance.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Analytical Thinker: Possesses the ability to sift through complex datasets to find actionable insights.
  • Problem Solver: Offers innovative solutions to BI challenges and business questions.
  • Self-Starter: Proactive and independent in identifying errors, gaps, and enhancement possibilities.
  • Technically Proficient: Able to learn and apply new techniques and technologies quickly.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ensures precision in both data transformation and analysis.
  • Collaborative: Effective in collaborating with different departments to understand and fulfill their data needs.
  • Articulate Communicator: Adept at translating complex data into digestible narratives for various leaders and SMEs.
  • Adaptability: Open to new ideas and technologies. Flexible in responding to shifting priorities and requirements.

Requirements

Technical Skills:

Essential (Coldfusion Role):

  • Profound knowledge of Coldfusion, including CFML, CFCs, and CFScript.
  • Strong background in web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX) and SQL databases.
  • Experience with Coldfusion frameworks and tools, version control systems (e.g., Git), and web services (REST, SOAP).

Desirable:

  • Experience manipulating and analyzing travel agency data
  • Experience working with SQL Server & Salesforce as data sources
  • Experience implementing AI enabled features
  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Information Systems or related fields.
