Job description

Pfizer Oncology Division is responsible for the clinical development and advancement of Pfizer’s pipeline of innovative cancer medicines and treatments. These breakthroughs would not be possible without the thousands of investigator sites, research networks and patients who participate in our clinical trials each year.

We aim to lead the industry by having the most patient centric clinical trials, building on our trusted relationships with our investigator sites and significantly reducing recruitment cycle times. To meet these ambitious goals, we have established a new Site Partnerships and Recruitment Strategy organization that is focused on establishing business to business partnerships with leading research/healthcare institutions and developing comprehensive enrolment strategies for studies and therapeutic areas.

The Regional Strategic Site Partnerships Lead is a critical member of this new team who will be responsible for identifying, building and nurturing business to business relationships with research and healthcare institutions that enrol a significant portion of our clinical trials. The Regional Lead will establish relationships with our newly identified high performing, high volume sites/partners within a specific therapeutic area and work with the C-suite at those institutions to ensure that the sites are set up for success.

We are seeking seasoned, strategic, and passionate colleagues with a proven track record of building strong relationships and conducting business development with research and healthcare institutions. This is a unique opportunity for a senior field medical, site-facing clinical development, or account management colleague who is excited about being a part of a transformational site partnering model that sets the new standard within the industry.

The Strategic Site Partnerships Lead is accountable for building relationships and operational strategies with high volume sites to deliver sustainable high through-put recruitment for their TA/portfolio. Driving the vision of Pfizer Oncology Division & Brand.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Implementing new Strategic partnership model across therapeutic areas that supports oversight and knowledge of site organisations and strategic sites partnership with Head of Strategic Site Partnerships
  • Collaboratively and strategically working with the Head of Strategic Site Partnerships and other regional leads to drive the values, mission, goals and delivery for team/ role
  • Drives the strategic vision of site partnership across the GSSO & CD&O Organizations
  • Ensuring a robust country level view (POD footprint) driving SSP model, embedding quality for continued growth of studies/trials
  • Lead discussions and engage regularly with C-suite contacts in partner accounts to strengthen the relationship and identify fresh new business opportunities
  • Driving relationship globally with Country Medical Directors in collaboration with Area Heads – leveraging government opportunities/growth
  • Partner with POD/PRD, in-Country GSSO colleagues and study teams to identify sites with high potential to become a high-volume site
  • Lead and drive full scope end to end business and strategy opportunity valuation for sites within a specific therapeutic area
  • Lead discussions and engage regularly with C-suite contacts in partner accounts to strengthen the relationship and identify fresh new business opportunities
  • Proactively lead the partner account planning and delivery process that develops mutual performance objectives, overall financial targets and transactions, and critical milestones for specific studies and within the TA
  • In partnership with cross functional POD/PRD, lead the process to transform clinical trial recruitment and conduct through partnering activities while driving high degree of quality and positive patient experiences
  • Establish and maintain productive professional relationships with key decision makers in assigned partner accounts (internal and external)
  • Driving and develop; develop efficient and effective strategies to respond to account concerns and work closely with colleagues to ensure high customer satisfaction ratings and prompt problem resolution and issue mitigation
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in relating to colleagues and associates both inside and outside the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and teams with a commitment to leadership, diversity and talent Development
  • Conversant with long term strategy of the business and able to leverage this to answer key business question

Qualifications/ Skills:

  • A medical or scientific or technical degree in the healthcare field required. In general, candidates for this job would hold a BS/BSc/MS/MSc or equivalent
  • Sufficient Therapeutic Area knowledge to allow for meaningful HCP discussions
  • Extensive broad experience of drug development, clinical trial conduct, global clinical trial operations, working knowledge of GCP and a thorough understanding of Pfizer processes and standards, with a growth that has been towards senior leadership positions
  • Must be fluent in English. Local language capabilities are an advantage in this role
  • Demonstrated strong executive relationship building and influence and experience working with the C-suite within the healthcare industry
  • Proven track record of managing business to business relationships with healthcare systems and establishing, negotiating and managing complex strategic contracts required
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated result orientation, tenacity, and follow- through
  • Ability to systematically evaluate and prioritize multiple business opportunities within a TA and has strong business acumen
  • The ability to be successful in a matrixed environment with a high degree of flexibility; collaborate well across functions of POD and specifically Country and Site Operations. High degree of influencing skills
  • Must have a proven track record of being effective at self-management and driving results.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong customer and business partner relationships
  • Ability to deal with high levels of ambiguity and proven ability to work in a fast paced and constantly changing environment
  • Data-driven leader with experience leveraging metrics, KPI’s, and analytics to create accountability structures that drive success of the organization
