Job Description
Northrop Grumman, Space Systems, is seeking an Engineering Technician 2 to join our team. This position will be supporting the Propulsion Systems Division at our facilities located in Clearfield and Salt Lake City, UT.
Successful candidate will perform instrumentation, assembly, disassembly, and testing of articles in support of development and production rate programs. This includes working with water and high-pressure hydraulic systems to prove out articles for flight. Candidate will be required to review and implement test plans, drawings, specifications and work to written shop planning. Desired skills include strong working knowledge and experience in instrumentation installation, operation of control systems and data acquisition systems, operating specialized equipment and tooling, handling operations, crane and occasional forklift operations, and safe use of hazardous chemicals. Implementation of continuous improvement using 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles will be required. Job function requires use of standard computer skills. Must have experience in set-up, fabrication, and troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems. Must have strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

Role Description and Responsibilities:
Work as a member of a team in a highly collaborative, communication dependent, fast paced environment.
Perform construction and wiring of test fixtures and test chassis working from drawings, schematics and instructions.
Install fixtures to test articles for verification and data sampling.
Mechanically set up test articles into the testing area using small- and large-scale wrenches, nuts bolts, and power tools as required.
Compiles reports, data, planning, certifications, and other items to comply with internal and customer hardware packages that will be presented to outside customers for review acceptance.
Candidates must be highly organized, attentive to detail, possess strong computer and communication skills.
Must be disciplined to follow detailed instructions and comply with procedures
Excellent written and oral communication skills to create clear and understandable documentation.
This role will report on-site daily to our Propulsion Systems location in Clearfield, UT. Initially, then transition to a facility in Salt Lake City. Some domestic travel may be required. This in an onsite position, with no work from home options available.
Computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database applications
Basic Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED and 2 years of relevant experience OR associate’s degree/certificate in a technical discipline.
Previous experience gathering, maintaining and compiling technical data.
Able to read engineering documentation and reports including drawings and schematics.
Capability to understand and follow electronic work instruction documents.
Ability to read, clearly interpret and accurately follow standard work and other written instructions.
Capable of the use of calibrated measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and electrical meters.
Proficient with manual and power tools.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates degree in a technical or STEM discipline.
Electronics / Data Acquisition troubleshooting experience.
Working knowledge of Hydraulic systems.
Additional Requirements:
Successful candidate must be able to pass a background check for the Federal Safe Explosives Act (SEA)
Must be able to qualify for an Alcohol Tobacco and Firearm (ATF) “Explosives Possessor” designation
Must be able to qualify for a Department of Defense security clearance

This position’s standard work schedule starts as a 4/10. **Approximately three months of training will be Monday – Thursday 5 AM – 3:30 PM; work location will be Clearfield, UT BLDG H7.
After three months shift will be Friday – Sunday 5 AM – 5:30 PM; work location will be Copper Crossing, in Salt Lake City, UT.
Once the approximately 3 months of training is complete, the candidate will permanently be on the weekend shift. If / when weekday positions open, there is a potential to transfer to weekdays.
Salary Range: $45,800.00 - $76,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
