Job description

Weekly outpatient therapy isn't always enough, and a trip to the ER isn't the only answer. Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role 

We are seeking a Virtual Adolescent Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who is passionate about addressing the current nationwide behavioral health crisis, while working on interdisciplinary treatment teams within an organization that is redefining the standard of comprehensive PHP/IOP care. You will play a pivotal role in a growing, mission-driven environment that accommodates provider autonomy to create innovative and individualized treatments for each patient. This role will be focused on our adolescent programming, which includes Mood & Anxiety, Mental Health and Substance Use, and OCD.

What You'll Do: 

  • Performing complete initial psychiatric evaluation on patient to determine diagnosis and develop plan of care including medication prescription, if indicated 
  • Revising, prescribing, and implementing therapeutic regimen using an interdisciplinary approach 
  • Monitoring patient progress and providing collaborative treatment and communication with the treatment team 
  • Providing timely documentation of each encounter with a patient 
  • Ensuring patient/family education regarding clinical condition and relevant aspects of care 
  • Working in collaboration with treatment team members to ensure quality of care and consideration of services 
  • Maintaining required level of continuing education and preferred development activities 
  • Using interpersonal and communication skills that enable one to establish and maintain professional relations with patients, families, colleagues and other members of the healthcare team 

Who You Are: 

  • Licensed or possess the ability to obtain license as an Advance Practiced Nurse in the State of Illinois 
  • ANCC National Board Certification in Psychiatry- PMHNP Certification 
  • Prescriptive Authority 
  • DEA license 
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois  
  • DNP or MSN from an accredited Nursing Program 
  • CPR certified 
  • Experience with patients in crisis 
  • 2-5 years’ experience prescribing 
  • Experience with multiple specialties including mood and anxiety, mental health and substance use, OCD and complex anxiety, and trauma
