L2 Engineer (1st to 3rd line) is responsible for monitoring and maintaining network infrastructure. This role involves monitoring network performance, identifying and resolving issues, delivering service requests and escalating complex problems to higher-level engineers. Capita Technology and Software Solutions (TSS) are looking for a Network Engineer for the ENNI Managed Service contract in Northern Ireland. The role is Home-Based within the UK, you will work within the Education sector delivering and supporting the central infrastructure that underpins the managed services that we provide.
What you will be doing:
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware and software.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation, using standard networking tools including SolarWinds NPM, NCM, PRTG
- Support the implementation of network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to implement network solutions.
- Provide technical support and assistance to end-users and other IT staff.
- Maintain documentation of network configurations, procedures, and changes.
- Knowledge of enterprise wireless networks
What we are looking for:
- Basic understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN).
- Familiarity with network hardware (e.g routers, switches) and software.
- Awareness of firewalls
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to changing environments.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA) are a plus.
- Have the ability to understand current processes and how they are managed
- To constantly review processes for continuous improvement.
- To handle technical problems within your area (after training) from the customer effectively and escalate when required in a timely manner
- Security Clearance will be required for the successful candidate
