As an Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing technical strategy and execution, building a high-performing engineering team, and ensuring our platforms operate at peak performance and reliability. This role requires a combination of technical leadership, hands-on expertise, and strategic thinking to drive innovation and maintain our competitive edge in a fast-paced industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Engineering Leadership: Serve as the Engineering Manager, ensuring the reliability and functionality of the site and taking ownership of technical operations.
- Talent Acquisition and Development: Recruit, mentor, and retain top technical talent to build a cohesive, high-performance team.
- Drive High-Performance Engineering Culture: Establish a culture of elite development practices, promoting code quality, best practices, and operational excellence.
- Define and Sustain Product & Technical Vision: Set the product and technical direction for the team, aligning engineering efforts with business objectives.
- Hands-On Technical Contribution: Lead by example through hands-on involvement in architecture design, building proofs of concept, and, when needed, writing production-quality code.
- Architectural Integrity & Code Quality: Ensure systems are designed for scalability, reliability, and performance, maintaining architectural integrity throughout the development lifecycle.
Required Experience & Skills
- Engineering Management: Extensive experience leading engineering teams and driving projects from concept through execution.
- Talent Acquisition: Proven ability to recruit, build, and scale high-performing technical teams.
- Backend Systems at Scale: Strong industry experience in designing and building backend systems that handle high volumes of traffic and data.
- Real-Time & Batch Processing: Hands-on experience with both real-time and batch data processing systems.
- Applied Machine Learning: Experience with machine learning, including prompt engineering and model fine-tuning, especially for language models.
- Technical Expertise:
- 12+ Years of Industry Experience: Demonstrated track record in engineering roles.
- Programming Proficiency: Expertise in Java, Python, or equivalent languages, with a strong technical foundation.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
Note: This role requires the candidate to work from the office at the Bangalore EGL location for 3 days a week. The remaining days can be worked remotely.
