We are seeking a Jira and Automation Engineer with expertise in Jira architecture, administration, and automation. This role involves designing, configuring, and automating Jira workflows, developing API integrations, and customizing Jira solutions to support business needs. The ideal candidate will also have experience integrating various APIs.
The engineer will manage and enhance existing Jira projects and automation processes across Jira, Tempo, and N8N to streamline reporting and data visibility for project managers, the finance department and management. Key projects include optimizing workflows for time tracking and cost analysis, developing API-driven reports to monitor project costs and tracked hours, and creating custom scripts to support internal IT automation. The engineer will also ensure seamless integration of Jira and Google Docs automation to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency in development tracking.
Architect, administer, and automate Jira workflows and processes.
Create and maintain complex JQL queries and filters for various teams.
Develop custom scripts and automations using Jira plugins such as ScriptRunner.
Integrate Jira with external tools like Confluence, Jenkins, GitHub, etc.
Develop software solutions using Jira API, Tempo API, or other external APIs.
Provide ongoing support and customization for Jira to meet evolving business needs.
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
Expertise in Jira architecture, administration, and automation.
Proficient in scripting with JavaScript (and Python if possible).
Experience with Jira plugins (e.g., ScriptRunner) and custom script development.
Understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
Experience in using JQL to create complex queries.
Experience overseeing thousands of Jira users, managing hundreds of projects, and handling hundreds of thousands of issues.
Ability to train end users and provide ongoing support to ensure the effective use of Jira.
Strong sense of responsibility and accountability for project outcomes.
Excellent communication skills with a proactive approach.
Experience with building integrations using Rundeck or N8N with JavaScript or Python.
Experience integrating and automating APIs into Google Sheets and developing reports using Google Sheets, App Script, and API integration.
Proficiency in project management.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Proven 5+ years of experience as a Jira administrator/automation engineer.
Strong development background in JavaScript and/or Python.
Experience in integrating Jira with various tools and systems.
