Job description

Hello potential future Oatly employee. It’s us, the original oatmilk company that started in Sweden back 25 or so years ago and has since expanded to the U.S. where we’ve continued growing at a rate such that we need more brilliant minds to come work with us to keep the momentum going and the oatmilk flowing.

Sustainability, health, and transparency are the core values that guide everything we do. Basically, we exist to make it easy for people to eat better and live healthier lives without recklessly taxing the planet’s resources in the process. If any of this resonates with you, then maybe you’d like work for Oatly, too. Now onto the formal stuff.

Reporting to the EVP of Retail Sales (Chief Customer Officer) we are looking for a Retail Sales Vice President focused on the Club Channel and expanding into new strategic channels to join our team. This role will be responsible for developing the Oatly business in the Club Channel across our Chilled, Ambient, and Frozen non-dairy alternative products. Additionally, this leader will be responsible for assessing and working cross-functionally in building new business cross-expansion channels like Pharmacy, C-Store, the Value Channel, and others.

Here are the things we want to hire you to do:

  • Work on an energized team across Channels to accelerate Oatly household penetration and brand love
  • Build on an existing business in the Club Channel; creating a long-term strategy and great execution across our Chilled, Ambient, and Frozen Oatly lines of business
  • Work across a global Oatly framework to help drive success with global Club Customers
  • Optimize our selling efforts between a combination of brokers and direct
  • In responsible Channels, establish Oatly as a thought leader in plant-based dairy alternatives
  • Explore, evaluate, and drive cross-functionally new Channel expansion growth opportunities
  • Establish and execute holistic winning Customer plans across assortment, price, promotion, and shelving
  • Work in conjunction with brand groups and Shopper Marketing to maximize awareness, trial, and loyalty of Oatly products
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation opportunities
  • Help to improve ways of working and evolved processes within Sales and across functions
  • Be a solutions-oriented positive leader making a large impact on the organization
  • Take risks; learn fast from failures, celebrate successes, and contribute to the positive culture of Oatly
  • Exhibit a collaborative mindset and work with all associates for the greater good of Oatly’s mission

Here are the things we think you need:

  • Minimum of 10+ years in CPG Grocery, Chilled experience preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience with managing Club/Costco
  • Bachelor’s degree at minimum
  • Deep experience and enthusiasm to lead and build lasting and sustainable businesses
  • Deep experience in the Club Channel, scaling the business for long-term value
  • Ideally, also experience in growing businesses in alternative channel (non-grocery) formats
  • Category and Consumer focused mindset and use of syndicated data sources and customer-specific data, to create value-added joint business opportunities
  • Command of business systems and tools to effectively manage and grow a large business
  • Have a thorough understanding of P&L management, optimizing trade, and Sales & Operations Planning
  • Have a strong foundation of Integrated Business Planning
  • Have an open mind and be excited to do things differently when the opportunity presents itself
  • Motivated, enthusiastic, and can effectively multi-task
  • Operates with agility and speed to make decision
  • Comfortable taking calculated risks and thrives on responsibility and accountability
  • Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively, while thriving in a remote environment
  • Willing to travel and understands the importance of in-person activities to build trust and relationships

And here’s another list of qualities we think make a good Oatly team member:

  • You feel connected to our mission of encouraging health, sustainability, and transparency
  • You are a self-starter who doesn’t need direct supervision to motivate you for success – we believe strongly in building a culture of individual accountability and ownership and need partners that can embrace that mentality
  • You are ready to make your mark in a smaller, growing brand leveraging your experience to deliver amazing results and build an outstanding company
  • You have an entrepreneurial spirit in that you’re comfortable with ambiguity and are energized by the process of building something lasting from the ground up
  • You enjoy sharing your quirkiness and talents with your coworkers

Another bulleted list felt redundant, so we wrote this long sentence with all the ways we sweeten the deal to work with us, like providing flexible vacation for starters, really great benefits, genuinely great coworkers who want to see the company and each other succeed, and a start-up vibe with an established company history.

The salary for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. Compensation may also include bonus, commission, or equity as applicable. Our good faith estimate for base salary is $225,000 - $240,000.

Our team is available to support you through the hiring process with reasonable accommodations to enable a barrier-free interview experience. We will maintain candidate privacy and confidentiality to enable an unbiased and equitable experience.
