Job Summary
The Director of Departmental Strategy & Optimization is responsible for driving strategic initiatives, optimizing departmental functions, and ensuring effective communication and change management. This role collaborates with department leadership to operationalize strategy, develop goals, build and maintain cross-functional relationships, and enhance overall departmental performance.
Job Description
Strategic Planning & Support
- Assist the VP, Clinical Management in the development and implementation of the mission/vision for the department, aligning it with the company's overall business strategy & business goals.
- Assist in the development of departmental goals ensuring the function is innovation forward and evolving with the industry
- Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure departmental success and provide routine reports to the VP and leadership team. (e.g. effectiveness of communication channels, success of interdepartmental projects and initiatives, stakeholder satisfaction).
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of strategic initiatives and adjust as necessary.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between departments to streamline communication, promote teamwork, and ensure that departmental goals are aligned with organizational objectives.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration with other departments to ensure alignment on shared projects and initiatives.
- Prepare and present regular reports on stakeholder engagement activities, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
Communication
- Ensure clear and consistent communication of departmental goals, strategies, and performance.
- Design and implement an internal communications strategy that engages, informs, connects, and inspires Otsuka’s Clinical Management employees in ways that support successful development and delivery of our pipeline.
- Develop and manage internal communications channels for Clinical Management function such as live events, emails, newsletters, and others.
- Lead the development of agendas, coordinate content and facilitate departmental meetings.
- Organize and facilitate meetings for the VP, Clinical Management, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and follow-up on action items.
- Create a variety of content as required on behalf of VP and leadership team.
General CM Support
- Lead and oversee key projects and initiatives within the Clinical Management function, ensuring timely execution and alignment with organizational objectives.
- Optimize processes and workflows within the department to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Manage departmental budgets and resources in collaboration with the leadership team, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
- Support on-boarding of new employees, ensuring content is regularly updated to keep it evergreen and relevant.
- Conduct annual review of job descriptions to ensure the function is bringing the right skills and capabilities into the organization to deliver on our pipeline
- Support the management of ongoing change management initiatives and communications impacting Clinical Management.

Educational Qualification

Minimum $179,721.00 - Maximum $268,755.00, plus incentive opportunity: The range shown represents a typical pay range or starting salary for candidates hired to perform the work. Other elements may be used to determine actual salary such as the candidate’s job experience, specific skills, and comparison to internal incumbents currently in role.
