Job description

Job Summary:

We are a fast-growing federal government contractor seeking a highly skilled Benefits Specialist. This role is crucial in managing benefits administration, and supporting onboarding activities. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of HR experience. Success in this role requires strong critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Benefits Administration: Manage and administer employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, 401(k), FMLA, disability, and open enrollment. Reconcile benefits statements and ensure accurate deductions are reflected in payroll.
  • HR Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including ACA, OFCCP, Workers' Compensation, and EEO reporting.
  • Onboarding: Facilitate employee onboarding, ensuring all necessary documentation (I-9, background checks, etc.) is completed accurately and on time.
  • HRIS Management: Oversee the administration of the HRIS, ensuring seamless integration with payroll and benefits systems and maintaining data accuracy.
  • Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for employees regarding payroll, benefits, and tax inquiries, offering guidance and support.
  • Policy Management: Assist in developing and updating HR policies and the Employee Handbook, ensuring acknowledgment and understanding by employees.
  • Reporting & Reconciliation: Reconcile benefits, and tax-related transactions, and prepare necessary reports for audits, tax filings, and other compliance needs.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate benefits processes, identifying opportunities for automation and efficiency improvements.

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2 years of human resources experience, including benefits administration.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of compliance regulations (ACA, FMLA, OFCCP, etc.).
  • Critical thinking: Ability to analyze benefits issues, troubleshoot problems, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Problem-solving: Resolve employee issues related to benefits with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.
  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring the highest level of accuracy in all benefits transactions.
  • Proficiency in HRIS (experience UKG).
  • Time management: Ability to handle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and manage high volumes of work efficiently.
